NYI Leader in PNG Injured in Attempted Car Jacking *** New Update!!!
NYI Leader in PNG Injured in Attempted Car Jacking – Prayer Needed ***New Update
Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea: Prayer has been requested for an NYI Leader, Allen Haunje, as he is recovering in the hospital from wounds received from robbers in an attempted car jacking. We praise the Lord that he was taken directly to a hospital where he underwent a 5 hour surgery to repair the damage. Please pray not only for physical healing, but emotional healing as well.
Melanesia South Pacific NYI Coordinator Daniel Latu writes:
“I am calling on all youth to stand with us in praying continuously for God’s complete healing over Allan’s life, that the peace of God that surpasses all understanding would rest on Allan, his wife, children and family and forgiveness on those who wronged him. In essence we’re believing God for a setup in this setback. Genesis 50:20 – You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.”
***Update 3 March 2017***
Allen’s mother sent in an update that they had to amputate his left leg below the knee. She continues to give God praise for the strength to accept this and thanks everyone for the continued prayers for her son and family. She went on to quote Rom 8:28 All things work for good to those that love you and that are called according to his purpose . Saying may God’s will be done.
Please keep Allen and his whole family in your prayers as he makes the necessary adjustments mentally as well as physically. That his heart would remain soft and not become hardened.
***Update 17 March 2017***
From his hospital bed Allen, known as Wirewire by his friends and family, gives this update.
“I went in for operation yesterday to do Close up on my wounds. Thats fine now and hopefully will go home next week. I am eating well and sleeping except the pain. Thanks for the prayers.”

Church in Southeast Asia Needs our Prayers!

Church in Southeast Asia Needs our Prayers!
Southeast Asia: One of our churches in Southeast Asia is being challenged and is in need of our prayers!
Two years ago, a house church was planted and several people in the area have come to faith. However, there are some people in the community that are making things difficult for the believers to worship . Relatives of the house owner are opposed to holding church services in the house. They are threatening to disrupt and drive the believers away if they continue to try and hold a worship service in the house again!
Please pray for peace in the community and for the people in that area who have followed Christ’s call. Also pray for the young pastor leading this house church. That their faith in the Lord would be strengthened as they continue to worship and declare their love for Christ despite these difficult circumstances.

Travel Advisories in the Asia-Pacific Region- Know Before You Go!

On March 6, 2017, The US Department of State’s Bureau of Consular Affairs released its latest Worldwide Caution.Read: Annotated Version of the Worldwide Caution, by Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC) Research & Information Support Center (RISC)
As incidents such as terrorist attacks, political disturbances and disorder usually occur unexpectedly, constant vigilance in everyone is highly promoted, especially when traveling. For US citizens, they are advised to visit the Department of State- Bureau of Consular Affairs website before planning a trip, to equip themselves with information that could increase their safety awareness.
Extremists increasingly aim to assault “soft” targets, such as:
  • High-profile public events (sporting contests, political rallies, demonstrations, holiday events, celebratory gatherings, etc.)
  • Hotels, clubs, and restaurants
  • Places of worship (see OSAC reporting)
  • Schools
  • Parks
  • Shopping malls and markets (see OSAC reporting) tourism infrastructure
  • Public transportation systems
  • Airports
On the Asia-Pacific Region, increased terrorist-related arrests, foiled plots, small-scale and attempted attacks and kidnapping attempts have been reported, and travelers are advised to take caution.
Specifically, travel warnings have been issued in North Korea and the Philippines. All travel to North Korea is highly discouraged due to the serious risk of arrest and long-term detention under the system of law enforcement. Moreover, people are urged against all non-essential travel in the island of Mindanao in the Philippines because of continued terrorist threats, insurgent activities, and kidnappings.
North Korea Travel Warning
Philippines Travel Warning
During these times, our prayers are needed more than ever. Let us pray for safety, for those that call these places home and also for our team members and fellow Nazarenes all over the world who have followed their call to missions in areas of unrest. May they be protected with God’s mercy and love.

Going Beyond Borders & Barriers - Land in Restricted Access Area..Urgent Need

Going Beyond Borders & Barriers – Land in Restricted Access Area..Urgent Need
Asia-Pacific Region: An urgent need has arisen in a restricted access area for partners to help with the continuation of a very strategic project. Funds are being raised to secure a 20-year land lease allowing us to keep an established work alive in a poor rural area. Security reasons don’t allow a description of how this land is to be used other than to say full-time activities are occurring there now by a dedicated man and wife who have a wonderful vision to connect with and train young people. If sufficient funds are not immediately raised, all the improvements placed on this location through a short-term temporary lease will be lost. Let’s respond quickly together to keep His vision alive!
The total amount needed in the next 30 days is $45,000 (USD).
There is significant urgency since the land owner plans to quickly sell the land to others if our lease is not agreed upon and funded.
Projects of this nature in restricted and creative access areas are sometimes the most difficult to resource as we are so limited by what we can say. But know this – God is at work and in some of the most challenging areas, that’s where we see the greatest harvest! This project has the full support of the AP Region and Field leadership.
Your prayers and consideration in investing in this Kingdom project are so greatly appreciated.

APNTS Dining Hall Undergoes Repair and Renovation

Manila, Philippines: At Asia-Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary (APNTS,) which serves students and faculty from around the world, a student can walk through the heavy doors of the dining hall and see the signs of deterioration from many years of use.
Seeing the need to provide a more adequate space for community meals and fellowship area, APNTS President Dr. Bruce Oldham recently announced the start of the dining hall repair and renovation.

There are already secured funds to begin the project, but APNTS still needs to raise more funds to complete it.
Please pray for APNTS as they press on towards the goal of providing better facilities to the future "bridge-builders" for Christ!

APNTS Dining Hall Undergoes Repair and Construction-
Manila, Philippines: At Asia-Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary (APNTS,) which serves students and faculty from around the world, a student can walk through the heavy doors of the dining hall and see the signs of deterioration from many years of use. The floor shattered with broken tile, the tables and chairs cramped together, trying to accommodate the increased number of guest they are serving daily. There is also visible wear and tear of the structure evident to everyone who enters. Serving dozens of people every day, the dining hall was starting to become a safety hazard and in desperate need of being renovated.

Seeing the need to provide a more adequate space for community meals and also fellowship areas, APNTS President Dr. Bruce Oldham recently announced the start of the dining hall repair and renovation:
“Not long after we arrived at APNTS in November, cracks in the flooring of the Dining Hall indicated that repair and renovation were urgently needed. We began to recognize this an an opportunity to include a student study area/ lounge.”
There are already secured funds to begin the project, but APNTS still needs to raise more funds to complete it.

Please pray for APNTS as they press on towards the goal of providing better facilities to the future “bridge-builders” for Christ!

Webinar- Be Holy as I am Holy: Old Testament Holiness in Light of Christ
Often Christians think of God's call to be holy in the Old Testament as a call to legalism and the invitation to holiness in the New Testament as a call to experience the grace of Jesus Christ.
But is the call to holiness in the Old Testament simply based on keeping the Law (or Torah)? Is holiness of the Old Testament replaced by or is it completed in Jesus?
Dr. Daniels will explore how the ancient invitations to "be holy as God is holy" are still significant in the life of God's people today.

BGS Invites Churches to Declare Jesus 'Lord of All' During Upcoming Easter Offering

To Nazarenes around the world:

BGS Invites Churches to Declare Jesus ‘Lord of All’ During Upcoming Easter Offering

To Nazarenes around the world:Easter reminds us of the new life we enjoy as Christ’s disciples and the future we anticipate as we anxiously await the eternal joy of living with Him forever. Jesus rose from the grave, and that changes everything. His resurrection validates our belief that Jesus is Lord of all!
Nazarenes around the world will celebrate the “Lord of All” in a few short weeks through the Easter Offering for the World Evangelism Fund (WEF). God has blessed the Church of the Nazarene for more than 100 years as we have shared the gospel globally. The impact has been incredible, but the potential for reaching more people with God’s message of love and transformation is greater than it has ever been.
God is providentially opening doors to reach those who have not yet heard, so we go. We live the message of Jesus Christ as we share the story that leads tens of thousands to accept Christ as Lord and Savior each year. We start new churches, offer Christ-centered education, give a voice to the voiceless, and rebuild homes, communities, and lives after natural disasters. We participate in this divine mission as we offer our resources to share in ministry.
The World Evangelism Fund offers a tangible way Nazarenes around the world can join in these ministries. The fund offers all of us a voice in declaring to our world “Jesus is Lord of all.” In the last 30 years, we have more than doubled the number of new Nazarenes who come to Christ annually, we have more than tripled our full membership, and the number of ordained ministers has nearly doubled. Even greater days of ministry lie ahead.
Romans 10:12 reminds us, “For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’” These words challenge us as we continue to participate with God in His divine mission to share this good news with the world.
We call on you to pray and prepare for this Easter Offering emphasis. The offering will be received globally on 16 April 2017. This date may vary for some, depending on the calendar of each field or district. Resources are available at nazarene.org/generosity in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Korean. If you have questions, contact Stewardship Ministries at 1-800-544-8413 or stewardship@nazarene.org.
