The NT teaches us that salvation is past, present and future. We have been saved, we are being saved and we shall be saved (Ephesians 2:5, 8; 1 Corinthians 1:18, 15:2; 2 Corinthians 2:15; Acts 15:11; Romans 5:9-10). We are warned about neglecting the process. We are cautioned against a deadly drift from it. Ships that drift off course can crash on the rocks. Planes must constantly adjust to keep the course in the face of wind changes. We avoid the deadly danger of drifting by keeping focused on our saving Lord and by loving and serving Him with our whole being.
“Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it. For since the message declared by angels proved to be reliable, and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution, how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation?” (Hebrews 2:1-3a (ESV))

"The Need To Fight" by Pastor H. Lamar Smith in Crane Hill, Alabama, United States for Wednesday, 25 April 2018
Some folks have a need to fight. Their religion does not always cure it but just gives it another cloak to wear into battle. They define themselves by what they are against. They have an insatiable need to be right with unresolved anger issues. It is either a sign of immaturity or that we have not surrendered everything. When we have been conquered and have made a full surrender, the need to fight disappears. We discover peace and serenity. We have found the rest that belongs to the people of God.
“One who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and one whose temper is controlled than one who captures a city.” (Proverbs 16:32 (NRSV))
