Giving with joy...
Deepak Chopra once wrote, "Giving, taking, earning, stealing, squandering, hoarding... are all human impulses, and we wouldn't be human without them. Yet... only one item - giving - appears in the world's wisdom tradition."
There's something about the act of giving that instills a sense of real joy. All other human acts are focused on the self, but giving in the purest sense is a selfless act. And the great example of a giver is none other than God. There is a joy that comes from the act of giving and God wants us to know that joy. This Sunday we'll go deeper, trying to understand the nature of God as giver and the secret that lies behind giving with joy.
Join us as we also celebrate All Saints Sunday; all those who have passed on, who have influenced us in our lives. Some of our fourth-graders will be receiving their Bibles, and we'll be praying over one of our own as he gets ready for deployment. It's a packed Sunday. You don't want to miss it!  Come let us worship and celebrate together.
Blessings,
Pastor Elbert

"Brown Bagging" for Thanksgiving food baskets
Loave's and Fishes Holiday food drives starting this Sunday
We make it simple for you to help put together a Thanksgiving meal for a low-income family. This Sunday there will be empty brown grocery bags with an attached suggested shopping guide, for you to pick up in the Cove, Linder Hall and on the patio.
You have until Sunday, November 24, before 12:30 PM, to return your filled grocery bag to church. Each of the 150+ families also receives a turkey or a gift card with their bag of groceries.
This is just one of the many Loaves and Fishes food drives during the Holiday season. Learn more how you can get involved on our website www.fumcsd.org/food-drives

Thanks for all you do!

Our service is low-key, non-traditional with weekly communion, open to everyone.
The band plays original Christian and traditional praise music. And it's ok to applaud.
