Trinity United Methodist Church Daily Scripture Email Devotion for Tuesday, 30 September 2014 "Simeon"
Simeon took him (the newborn Jesus) in his arms and praised God, saying:... "For my eyes have seen your salvation." (Luke 2: 28, 30).
The symbolism is powerful: Simeon, the old Jewish leader holding God in his arms! Israel/Judaism bringing to the world the Savior of the world.
You and I are called to be Simeons: we've beheld the Savior, and we present Him to the world, in word, deed and symbol. Let's not just hold God in our hearts, but share God and God's Good News in our lives.
