  How to love your work

Zig Ziglar, once said, "You can complain because roses have thorns, or you can rejoice because thorns have roses."
Every day of your career, life includes a decision between thorns and roses. The office is often the setting for such decision making.
Do you love what you do? If not, why not? And what are you doing about it? Of course, some things are out of your control. In that case, your work ethic kicks in to cover the inequities. But in most cases, you can influence others - and yourself - with positive attitudes toward your work. I think there are four guiding principles in order to love your work.
1. SEE IT FOR WHAT IT DOES, RATHER THAN FOR WHAT IT IS.
What product or services does your work provide that makes life better for others? If you focus inwardly, you will struggle with "insider" stuff. If you look through the corporate windows into the lives of people who depend on what your work does, it will give it a greater meaning.
2. SEE IT FOR WHO YOU CAN HELP, RATHER THAN FOR WHO MAY HINDER YOU.
Focus on contributing to your associates. What words of encouragement can you give them? How can you facilitate their work without getting in their way? Your positive attitude will give your associates much more than they will earn in a paycheck. If they go home feeling respected and appreciated, you have made their day-and yours.
3. SEE IT FOR WHAT IT DOES FOR YOU, RATHER THAN FOR WHAT IT TAKES FROM YOU.
What skills or benefits will last beyond your career? Pay attention to what you are learning every day. Identify those skills that will last a lifetime. What other benefits beyond monetary gain, such as friendships, networks, or techniques, will continue to enhance your life?
4. SEE IT FOR HOW IT BEGAN, RATHER THAN FOR HOW IT CONTINUES.
What founding principles drive your workplace? Think about the core purpose of your company's products or services. If you see yourself as a carrier of those principles, or a daily contributor to those interests, it will give greater meaning to your work.
What you do isn't necessarily who you are, but who you are will necessarily influence what you do. Look beyond the time clock. Think above the noise. Dream beyond the blueprints. When you turn the drudgery of what you do into the dynamic of what it does for you and for others, you've taken a giant step in loving your work.[Stan Toler]

Since then, the ministry of FEBC has steadily made an impact in the lives of countless people all over the world, especially in areas where there is religious persecution, political strife and economic hardship. In the vast country of China, for instance, half of the 70-million Christians had first heard the Gospel through broadcasts from the “Voice of Friendship.”
At present, FEBC manages nine AM and FM stations strategically located in key cities all over the Philippines and reaching an audience of 50M Filipinos. It also operates transmitting sites for shortwave broadcasts toward China and the rest of Southeast Asia.
FEBC Philippines is part of an international broadcast network that proclaims the Gospel in around 150 languages through approximately 5,000 hours each week utilizing on-air, online and on-the-ground channels.
Please continue to pray for the ministries of FEBC and WMC-AP, and for the lives touched by the Gospel message.
Radio Ministry Reaches New Heights in Papua New Guinea?

Reaching those who might

Radio ministry is truly going beyond borders and barriers in Papua New Guinea as new doors are opening.
When the request came to send samples of our radio programs, little did we know how many more stations would carry our programming!

Nazarene Radio Ministry just recently received letters from several radio stations around the country, asking Nazarene Radio Ministry to send three of the regularly recorded radio programs for review.
The programs were very well received and as a result, 4 new radio stations have begun broadcasting the programs.  They have agreed to place the programs in prime time slots, and are not charging for the air time!
Nazarene Radio Ministry has been broadcasting three radio programs on 12 radio stations for more than 10 years, reaching locations across PNG.   With the additional 4 stations, they will now be broadcasting on 16 stations, in 10 different locations around the country.  Only 2 of the stations are Christian owned, the other 14 are owned by the government.  Of these two, one is run by the Roman Catholic Church within the vicinity of Lae, the second largest industrial city in the country.  The other station is managed by Evangelical Bible Mission in partnership with the Assemblies of God.

Early in 2015, Nazarene Radio Ministry will be airing on yet another new station, FM Jiwaka. Jiwaka is a newly formed province in PNG and a brand new area of radio ministry.  The Nazarene Radio Ministry is actually based in this newly formed province.
Radio Ministry Prayer Answered in the Highlands
“The new FM Jiwaka will move our radio ministry to a new height,” explains Rev. Daniel Eka, Radio Ministry Coordinator. “It broadcasts within our [province] so that we will be able to do physical [face-to-face] follow-up and if possible, conduct live broadcasts as well.”

Papua New Guinea is a vast land of mountains and valleys, many unreached by modern conveniences such as roads and electricity. But into these areas, radio waves carry the gospel message of redemption and hope in a living savior.
“We do not know what the Lord has for this ministry as He is continuously opening new doors,” said Eka. “We thank God and praise his Holy name.  We are his tools in his mighty hands. Blessed be the name of the Lord.”

Newly Revised Course of Study Leading to Ordination Making Good Progress!
Asia-Pacific Region
Designing a Course of Study that equips the pastor to effectively engage the community and congregation, using the activities of a pastor as the focus for education is a complex task.
This is especially true when considering the political, cultural, economic and ethnic diversities of a region that is home to 40% of the world's population and some 7,105 languages.

NEWLY REVISED COURSE OF STUDY FOR ORDINATION MAKING GOOD PROGRESS!
Asia-Pacific Region: The Asia-Pacific Region is home to more than 40% of the world’s population. With 7,105 known languages, political, cultural, economic and ethnic diversities that are nearly incomprehensible, the task of taking pastoral training to the masses so that the church can move forward, is daunting.
Manila
ManilaThe task of creating a standard Course of Study that meets the needs of the pastor for the village and the urban setting is complex!
One of the nine regional priorities is Cohesive Education and Ministerial Preparation. This week the Regional Course of Study Advisory Committee (RCOSAC) met in Indonesia as they worked toward completion of a new Course of Study (COS) based upon a freshly determined and reevaluated listing of desired outcomes.
These outcomes are aimed at equipping the pastor to effectively engage the community and congregation using the activities of a pastor as the focus for education. Local churches, District leadership, Field and Regional leadership were all consulted to determine the kind of pastor needed on our Region.
This process has taken many months and resulted in the creation of outcomes that describe what kind of character, what types of skills, and what the pastor should know.
The RCOSAC committee has members from Australia, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Fiji, Canada, and the USA, as well as some of the Creative Access Areas on our region.
Discussions were vigorous as the committee weighed the needs of the many different contexts on our region. There will be a core of 16 courses that all schools in the Asia-Pacific who want to offer the Nazarene COS for ordained Elders will use. Upon completion, hopefully later in 2015, this COS will be ready to be embedded into all the programs offered by the educational institutions of the Region.
Pray for wisdom, accuracy, and the guidance of the Father through the Holy Spirit.
Asia-Pacific Region
During the recent Regional Advisory Council meetings in South Korea, the council adopted nine regional priorities.  We will be featuring one of these priorities each week over the course of 9 weeks.

Church planting happens as a result of strategic prayer, planning, and collaboration.  Momentum must start with small steps in the Jerusalems and Judeas of our people and congregations.
Church planting happens as a result of strategic prayer, planning and collaboration. The time has come for the reprioritization of strategic expansion into areas of existing districts, nations and fields that are thus far untouched or insignificantly impacted. While entering new nations is always a worthy consideration, momentum commences with small steps in the Jerusalems and Judeas of our people and congregations. From there, the Lord will raise up those called to Samaria and the uttermost ends of the earth.
The Asia-Pacific Region is of immense diversity, and the full impact of the gospel has yet to be made. Church growth statistics demonstrate that the most effective way to evangelize is through the multiplication of churches. Healthy churches should be reproducing churches who in their turn plant churches. If the Region is going to take the Gospel into areas beyond the current reach of the evangelistic effort of the Church, it will be through the establishment of the Church, meaning the establishment of new and creatively structured communities of faith who follow Jesus and who understand their role in taking the Good News to their own in contextually relevant ways.
As an indication of their health, Nazarene churches should constantly be engaged in the objective of planting and nurturing of at least one new missional church per quadrennium as a part of the AP Region’s DNA and as a minimal goal for each local congregation. Emphasis needs to be given to reaching cities with populations in excess of a million people.
