"The Four Soils"
This coming Sunday I'm going to talk about the Parable of the Sower, also known as the Parable of the Four Soils, for there are four kinds of soil described as the location of where the seeds fall:
hard, path-like
shallow, with no place for the seed to take root.
thorny soil, where the seed grows but is choked out.
good soil, where the seed flourishes.
I can look back over my life and see that at various times I've been all of these soils; have you?
But still the Sower sows, and the community of faith has nurtured the soil of my life to give it every possibility to become the good soil where God's presence can flourish. For that I am ever so grateful.
What kind of soil is your life right now? Is it what you and God want it to be? What's growing there? I'll be passing out little grains of wheat this Sunday, and I'll tell you then what I'd like you to do with them.
Love and prayers,
Dan
