PRAISES:
Jesus at the Hospital Ministry
Praise God for the giving hearts and hands of a youth group at the Dusbuliga Church of the Nazarene in Ghana who have started a ministry called “Jesus at the Hospital.” The ministry helps women who have just given birth to leave the hospital with their bills paid in full. Often, if the mother was not able to pay her bill when it comes time to take her baby home, the hospital will retain the infant until the bill is paid. Ecuador Retreat
We give praise to the Lord for a wonderful National Pastor’s Retreat in Ecuador last weekend. Around 200 pastors gathered for a two-day retreat. It was the first time in many years where all Ecuadorian district pastors met together. The time was a blessing to those who attended.
Nancy Miller
Thank you for praying for missionary Nancy Miller. She has been released from the hospital in the Philippines. Nancy says, “I am feeling much better, but I could be on oxygen therapy for a long time, especially living in the mountains. I want to thank everyone for their prayers. I know it has made a difference. Please continue to pray. George and I are trying to adjust our thinking to a possible new way of life… living attached to an oxygen bottle.”

MONSOONAL RAINS LEAVING FLOODING AND DEVASTATION IN WESTERN MYANMAR ** UPDATE! PLEASE PRAY!
Tahan – Kalaymyo, Myanmar: The rainy season has arrived in full force throughout SE Asia, bringing along monsoonal rains that have completely inundated entire regions of Myanmar, India and Northern Vietnam.

(Credit: Google.com)
According to BBC World News, these rains that began in July, have left at least 27 people dead in 4 western regions of Myanmar that have been declared disaster areas. There are reports that entire villages have been buried under landslides, so the casualty numbers are sure to rise.
A landslide in Manipur state hit a remote village in Chandel district, bordering Myanmar, early on Saturday. Rescue teams were not expected to get there until Sunday because of heavy rains and landslides. Continuous rain in recent days has washed away bridges and roads and left thousands homeless, according to local officials.
Report from our Nazarenes (*** Update Below)
One of our leaders in the area sent in the following report:
Please pray for Tahan-Kalaymyo where most of our church members are living. Tahan-Kalaymyo is home to over 400,000. It has 80,000 acres of rice fields, 40,000 acres of peas, 40,000 acres for cooking oil crops. Most cultivation areas were full of flooded water with a strong force of rivers.
(Credit: Channel News Asia)
The flood destroyed almost all of the district of Kalaymyo areas. Schools are closed, prisons are evacuated, hospitals are flooded and patients are being removed to safe places.
Many of the bridges have been destroyed. Thousands from the flooding areas are homeless and have moved to the Tahan schools for shelter. Some villages were completely submerged and destroyed in the flood. Many lives have been lost. According to the latest weather forecasts, the heavy rains are expected to continue in the Saggain, Kachin, Chin, Magwe, and Rakhine Regions.
We have several local churches throughout the region, and most of our churches members live in these flooded areas. We have not yet received reports about the number of Nazarenes who have lost their homes or even worse, their lives. They are in the midst of some very difficult times.
Please pray for our local, field, and regional leadership as they look at the needs and assess how the church can best respond to this monumental crisis.
*** August 3, 2015 Update ***
In one of the villages on the road to India, where many of our Nazarene’s live, more than 100 homes were swept away and at least 750 acres of rice were completely destroyed.
Nazarene Widow’s Home
One of our Nazarene widows, was one whose home was swept away. The local Nazarene pastor and church members responded to rescue her.
Flood waters diminish and now the process of removing the mud begins.
One of our Nazarene Churches in Tahan was full of thick mud.
Reports at this time are that the majority of our Nazarenes are safe. Work is still ongoing to establish contact with the isolated areas.
The rains have subsided a bit and the water is starting to dissipate.
Thank you for your ongoing prayers!
Please commit to bring this prayer need before your local churches this week!

PRAISE
Jesus at the Hospital Ministry
In some Ghana hospitals, pregnant women can have their babies and receive necessary medical care, even if they arrive at the hospital without cash. However, if the mother isn’t able to pay her bill when it's time to go home, the hospitals will retain their babies until all expenses are paid. When the youth at Ghana’s Dusbuliga Church of the Nazarene learned of the ordeal some new mothers face, they mobilized a fundraising effort. Within 10-hours, they raised $120USD.
The funds allowed for the release of 5 mothers and their newborns. But, that’s not all to the story, the youth group has continued raising money by planting, harvesting, and selling rice. In the past
three months, the teens have paid the debt of 45 mothers, paid tuition fees for two school dropouts and supplied pens and pencils to nearby village school children.
“Praise God for the giving hearts and hands of the youth at the Dusbuliga Church.

Thank you for praying for missionary, Nancy Miller. She has been released from the hospital in the Philippines and is home recovering. Nancy says, “I am on oxygen to relieve pressure on my
heart caused by the pressure in my lungs from excess fluid. The outward signs that sent me to the hospital were very swollen legs, which have greatly improved. I am feeling much better, but I
could be on oxygen therapy for a long time, especially living in the mountains. I want to thank everyone for their prayers. I know it has made a difference. Please continue to pray. George and I are trying to adjust our thinking to a possible new way of life… living attached to an oxygen bottle.”

*Tell THE Story" is an inductive Bible Study method that allows the listeners to hear the stories in their full context, and then discover the truths in that story through a Socratic approach. It is
useful for discipleship, evangelism, small groups, Sunday School, missions, and preaching.
