PRAISES:
Power House
In the Papua New Guinea (PNG) culture, it can be difficult to share evangelical efforts with other denominations. However, a group of Nazarene women are meeting, privately in a home, with a group of Evangelical Brotherhood women to pray. They pray for backsliders, couples with broken marriages, orphanages, and other issues that affect the lives of Papua New Guineans. They also raise their hands in prayer for Nazarene radio ministry to touch the lives of people who don’t go to church or who can’t read the Word of God for themselves.
PRAY FOR:
GLOBAL MINISTRY REQUESTS
Displaced
The needs of Christians who are being displaced in the Middle East continue to grow. We cannot forget about our brothers and sisters who are persevering in the midst of persecution. We¹ve heard that because of the violence, some relief organizations are leaving hostile areas, but the Church of the Nazarene will stay to offer tangible help and the hope of Christ.
Please pray for Christians who are being persecuted in the Middle East. Pray for Nazarene workers who are there, giving compassionate care and sharing the Gospel.
Pray for Rain
It’s the dry season in Kudjip, Papua New Guinea, where our Nazarene Hospital is located. However, this season is especially dry. Water supply in the wells is low, and some wells have run dry. Without rain, critical issues will soon arise such as food shortages. Pray for rain. Click here to read more from our team in the Asia-Pacific Region.
Thailand Bombing
Pray for the people who have been injured when a bomb detonated in downtown Bangkok on August 17. We've received word that Nazarenes are safe. Pray for the families of those who perished. Read more clicking here for the Asia-Pacific Region’s news site.
NOTE: The country of Thailand is the PML Field Focus this week. See below for additional ways to pray for the people of Thailand.
Argentina/South America Flooding
In Argentina, several cities have been affected by heavy flooding from recent rains. Our team in South America reports that in some locations, the water reached as high as two meters (approximately 6 ½ feet). Major news outlets say that three people are confirmed dead and more than 11,000 forced to evacuate. Please pray for the people in Argentina who are suffering loss. Floods have also affected Uruguay and Venezuela recently. Click here if you want to help with the Nazarene response efforts.

South America Disaster Response
GIVING CODE: ACM1203
REGION: South America,
THE NEED: $20,000.00
PRINTABLE VERSION: DOWNLOAD
About the project
South America is home to millions of people who live in a variety of settings, from the Andes Mountains to low-lying valleys and river basins. Diverse communities are exposed to natural disasters including flooding, droughts, landslides, earthquakes, and volcano eruptions. Impoverished communities living in river basins, flood plains, and remote areas are particularly at risk to natural disasters. When a disaster hits, families and individuals in affected areas need immediate assistance, including shelter, food, clean water, and household items. During disasters, NCM partners with local churches as they walk alongside families and communities to meet needs on the road to recovery.
Each emergency relief effort is organized locally with the support of the global church through prayer, giving, and technical support. The local church often partners with other organizations and local government agencies in order to best meet needs as well.
Your gift to the South America Disaster Response Fund will enable local churches to strategically organize immediate relief and long-term rebuilding projects for communities affected by disasters.
Venezuela Camps
The month of August is when the Venezuelan church celebrates their family and youth camps. The vast majority of our Venezuelan pastors received their call to minister at these camps. Pray for the men, women, boys, and girls attending this year’s camps that they will clearly hear and respond to the Lord’s leading.
Pakistan Child Development Center
Two new Child Development Centers are opening in the Pakistani cities of Texila and Faislabad. Ask God to bring the qualified teachers needed at each center.

PML Field Focus – South East Asia
This week we continue to look into the work God is doing in the South East Asia Field (SE Asia). Cambodia, Myanmar, and Thailand comprise the SE Asia Field. Today we will focus learning about and praying for Thailand.
Known as Siam until 1939, Thailand is the only Southeast Asian country never to have been colonized by a European power. Known for its great food, tropical climate, fascinating culture, majestic mountains and great beaches, Thailand is a popular tourist destination. Buddhism heavily influences the mainland Thai culture. Click here for statistical information about Thailand in PML’s printable version.
Praises and Prayers for Thailand

Praise for ongoing, faithful discipleship in southern Thailand.
Praise for relationship evangelism through sports and friendships in northern Thailand.
Praise for lay leaders in NE Thailand who have been steadfast and growing while their pastor was recovering from illness in another province. Six new believers came to Christ since Easter Sunday.

Without rain, critical issues will arise such as food shortages. The hospital staff and most Papua New Guineans depend on their gardens for food. The river used to draw water for the system is very low. Fortunately, the hospital has generators but the fuel to run them is expensive. Pray for rain.
Thailand Bombing
On August 17, a bomb detonated in downtown Bangkok. One of our team members sent in the following ways to pray:
· Nazarenes are safe, but we are praying for the city of Bangkok at such a time as this.
· The bomb exploded in the area of the Erawan Shrine. Many were killed and injured. Another bomb went off near a bridge where many pedestrians were walking, but no injuries were reported.
· Pray for those who were injured.
· Pray for the families of those who have lost their loved ones.
· Pray that evil will be pushed back and other possible plans for destruction exposed, and that those responsible will be brought to justice.
· Pray for the hearts of Thai people that there might be a turning toward the Light at this time.
