Sunday, 23 August 2015 - "Prayer Tip"

The heavens are telling the glory of God;
and the firmament proclaims his handiwork.[Psalm 19:1]
What reminds you of the awesomeness of God? Is there something that brings you to your knees (in fact or metaphorically)? Last week my husband and I drove out past the city lights to watch the Perseid Meteor Shower and I had one of those moments. The stars were so beautiful and the bright meteors were like heavenly fireworks. These ancient lights in the night sky were an overwhelming reminder of God’s glory.
This week in the GPS we will be reading and praying about the reality of Jesus, God’s Son, the Word coming to humankind in a form we might understand. As we learn and understand, we may very well feel called to acknowledge the incredible glory of God.
Sometimes in prayer we just need to spend some time recognizing who God is. Every time of prayer should include praise and thanksgiving, but there should be times when we devote our whole prayer to recognizing the greatness of God and offering thanks and praise. When you do this, let go of your inhibitions and throw your whole spirit into praising God. Sing. Dance. Paint a picture. Make a list of all the names and attributes of God that you can think of and offer thanks for every single one. Stand in one place, extend your arms and slowly turn, thanking God for everything you see, hear, smell, taste, and touch. Ask others to join you and make a chorus of praise.
Let’s do this at least once this week – let go and spend a time of prayer in nothing but praise and thanksgiving, with no limits or inhibitions.[Jennifer Creagar, Prayer Ministry]

Daily Scripture: Matthew 16:13 When Yeshua came into the territory around Caesarea Philippi, he asked his talmidim, “Who are people saying the Son of Man is?” 14 They said, “Well, some say Yochanan the Immerser, others Eliyahu, still others Yirmeyahu or one of the prophets.” 15 “But you,” he said to them, “who do you say I am?” 16 Shim‘on Kefa answered, “You are the Mashiach, the Son of the living God.”
