Friday, August 14, 2015,
Greetings RezDowntowners,
I hope today’s eNote finds you doing well and in good spirits! I just finished taking a walk through Loose Park with Wendy and Freddy on what feels like a perfect Friday here in Kansas City. As Wendy and I walked we spent a lot of time reflecting over the past ten years we’ve shared together as husband and wife (we celebrated our 10-year anniversary yesterday). We remembered many of the ways we’ve experience God’s presence together through the faces of friends and family, through the churches we’ve served, and specifically through you all at Resurrection Downtown. We can’t imagine life without RezDowntown, our lives are different because of you and we continue to thank God for the countless ways that you have fostered an ever-deepening sense of God’s forever love in our lives. I’m excited to see where God takes us into the future.
I’m looking forward to returning to Resurrection Downtown this weekend after spending last weekend preaching in Leawood. It will be so great to kick-off our new sermon series with you in-person. We’ll be Searching for Truth as we ask the question, “Is There a God?” We’ll spend a little time talking about atheism, then look at the case for the existence of God, what Christians mean by “God” and the implications the existence of God on how we approach life. It should be a great weekend in worship.
Also, as our KidsCOR programming is gearing up for the Fall with the new school year and as our kids move up a grade, this weekend we’ll also be welcoming RezDowntown’s new Director of Children’s Ministries, Sarah Brischle. Sarah has spent the last two years of her life teaching elementary school students in Kenya. Before that she has spent time teaching in and around the Kansas City area in addition to serving previously at Resurrection’s Leawood Campus on our Rezlife Staff. We are thrilled to welcome her downtown this weekend and would love it if you would take a moment to say, “Hi,” this weekend or perhaps by email at sarah.brischle@cor.org.
