In Sierra Leone, pregnancy is life-threatening. Your gift makes it safer>>
Mariama survived Ebola in 2014. The next year, her life was again at risk.
That's because she was pregnant in Sierra Leone—home to the planet's worst maternal death rate. Here, 1 in 16 women will die in her lifetime during pregnancy or childbirth.
I cared for Mariama and her baby boy. And I am SO grateful that she lived near a PIH clinic, where she got high-quality prenatal care and a safe, clinic-based birth.
But in Sierra Leone, few mothers are this lucky. Please, give $15 or more to make motherhood safe for the nation's poorest, most vulnerable women.

Today, Mariama and her 3-month-old son are healthy and thriving. But right now, countless pregnant women risk death due to lack of health care.
Your gift equips nurses and midwives with the tools we absolutely need to help more moms just like Mariama:
Safe delivery kits, stocked with essential supplies and medicines for laboring moms.
Essential vitamins to promote a healthy pregnancy, and bed nets to protect moms-to-be from malaria.
Critical medical equipment to monitor a baby's heartbeat during labor and delivery.
These are the things that save moms' lives—in Sierra Leone, Malawi, Haiti, everywhere.
Your gift makes a difference. Please, give now.
With gratitude,
Emily
