Pastor Penny Ellwood's eNote from The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection Blue Springs in Blue Springs, Missouri, United States for Friday, 5 August 2016

Resurrection Blue Springs,
Greetings on this steamy Friday morning! There has been a lot of progress this week in our building. As you can see from this photo taken earlier this week, the sheetrock is going up! The new walls in the sanctuary are up, the new single restroom is coming together and the entrance to KiDSCOR has been moved to its new location. It's been exciting to watch the progress being made each day.
With the start of school quickly approaching, our staff team has also been working hard during all this construction on the preparations for launching our fall programs. These include discipleship groups, missions, kids and teens ministries. It's been great to be able to assign some of these upcoming activities to the new spaces we will have completed in the next few weeks. I hope you'll take a close look at the offerings listed below. We'll have Alpha and two Disciple course offerings for those wanting to grow in their knowledge of God and the Bible. Parents, I'll think you'll be interested to learn about a new parenting class being offered on Conscious Discipline. Sign ups are available online or at Guest Services on Sunday.
I hope everyone is making plans to attend our Annual Church Picnic this Sundayafternoon. We gather every August just before school begins to enjoy some fellowship, fun and food together. Boat rides will start at the dock across from the clubhouse and the outdoor games will be set up to play at 4 pm. We'll begin serving food at 5 pm. There is plenty of space under the shelter and in the clubhouse so plan to come rain or shine and please feel free to invite friends to join us. Right now, it looks like we could have a much cooler day in store for our fun!
Finally, I want to invite you to join us in worship on Sunday as we conclude our sermon series on the art of neighboring. This weekend we'll be focusing on specific and practical ways to meet and engage our neighbors.
In the meantime, take a look at all that is coming up in the next few weeks.
Return Your Back to School Supplies this Sunday - Don't forget to return your school supplies for Wendell Phillips @ Attucks Elementary School this Sunday. We'll be delivering them later next week for the start of the new school year. If you didn't pick up a bag but would like to contribute, you can still make a donation towards the purchase of items in bulk – $35 is all it takes to get everything a student will need for the year. A donation of any size is appreciated.
Celebrate with Us at the All-Church Picnic! Join our Resurrection Blue Springs community on Sunday, August 7, at the Lake Tapawingo Clubhouse at 244 Dockside Drive. Games and boat rides start at 4 pm. Boat rides will be offered from the dock just below the clubhouse from 4-5 pm. We'll start serving food at 5 pm. Bring a side dish or dessert to share, and we’ll provide the fried chicken! You’ll be able to eat inside in A/C or outside under the shelter, so don’t let the weather keep you from this fun opportunity to connect with your church neighbors!
