Dear Friends,
On behalf of the Henri Nouwen Society, I want to thank you for choosing to attend this very successful conference at the Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice at the University of San Diego that truly drew people into the heart of Nouwen and the theme of social justice.
Each Keynote presentation was, I believe, a quality introduction to Henri’s writings, experiences and call to peaceful action in order to effect change in the world. The overall feedback from evaluations was that Revolution of the Heart: The Counter-Cultural Spirituality of Henri Nouwen was a huge success!
Our goal is to ensure that you have received the full experience of this conference and can savour the rich spiritual themes and talks as a treasured memory so please enjoy this link to all of the talks. http://bit.ly/2IhncVF
Henri Nouwen wrote in Bread for the Journey, “So much of our energy, time, and money goes into maintaining distance from one another. Many if not most of the resources of the world are used to defend ourselves against each other, to maintain or increase our power, and to safeguard our own privileged position. Imagine all that effort being put in the service of peace and reconciliation! Would there be any poverty? Would there be crimes and wars? Just imagine that there was no longer fear among people, no longer any rivalry, hostility, bitterness, or revenge. Just imagine all the people on this planet holding hands and forming one large circle of love. We say, “I can’t imagine.” But God says, “That’s what I imagine, a whole world not only created but also living in my image.”
Let us pray that we continue to follow Nouwen’s spiritual example as a guide for us to integrate our faith into action for greater justice in society and in the world.
Henri’s legacy lives on and continues to bear much fruit, as is evidenced by a younger generation seeking to read him and learn from his writings. If you did not have an opportunity at the conference, please check out our website at www.henrinouwen.org to sign up for FREE Daily Meditations and to stay in touch with all that we do to extend Henri’s footprint in the world.
With gratitude for all that was given and all that was received, thank you for being part of the University of San Diego Conference.
