Hi, RezChat
The headline this week is that Terry Bahadur got his certification approved for teaching English as a second language. That has been his main gig, with social studies as his value-added extra.
He is delighted.
He is now applying for teaching jobs throughout the area. So keep him and Cris in your prayers.
They leave for San Diego tomorrow for a vacation.
Didn't San Diego burn down recently?
Wendy's must have survived.
Oh, I just noticed they had signed up to bring donuts on Sunday. That puts an entirely different spin on why they are leaving town on Saturday.
We're calling for a cholesterol backup.

Sunday's session:
Adam's B-I-B-L-E, part 2
We're in week 2 of a 4-week series about the Bible.
Here's what we've got for the next 3 weeks, which I'm pulling from the curriculum track.
6.8, Jim Buffington:
Life with Pastor Adam's B-I-B-L-E. Discuss several Bible passages that could change our lifestyle if we adopt Pastor Adam’s way of reading them. Session leader would select these, and perhaps a few quotes from Adam’s book, to lead the class though the discussion.
6.15, Steve Miller
Write your own Bible. We’ll look at a few Bible passages and paraphrase them into words we would use to get the point across to our kids or grandkids or a friend outside the faith.
6.22, Rick Stones (Welcome home)
Who invented the Bible? This is the story of how we got the Bible.
Deuteronomy 31:9; 2 Samuel 1:17-18; 2 Timothy 3:15-17

2nd Sunday social: burgers & dogs
The church youth will be doing their annual fundraising cookout on Sunday, which is the date of our Second Sunday Social.
We'll join them.
Workday at Renay's place:
bring your own shovel
A little bird told us that Renay Kessler could use some help turning her plug of earth into a Garden of Eden that doesn't need mowed so much.
Those who are willing and able to help, mark the date for next Saturday, June 14, 8:30 a.m.
Location, off Nall and 99th:
5504 W. 99th Street
Overland Park, KS
Dave Rock is leading this effort, coming off a fresh learning experience after landscaping his yard, And he works for John Deere, so he has a personal acquaintance with dirt.
I asked him what we should say to invite folks to help us. Here's what he said:
Maybe something like - we are taking the current sermon series on work seriously.
"The Lord God took the human and settled him in the garden of Eden to farm it and to take care of it." (Genesis 2:15)
•On Saturday, 14 June we are planning to help Renay with developing a garden on that barren patch in front of her house.
•With enough help, we will be able to complete the work on Saturday and be ready to celebrate with a burger and cold drink at the end of the day, and for sure rest on Sunday.
Here's my sales pitch.
•Dave is helping.
•He had 5 heart bypasses last summer.
•I haven't had any. If he can help, I can help.
•Just in case, I'm bringing my wife, the nurse.
Note to Linda: Can you borrow the church's defibrillator? I'll bring the camcorder.

See you on Sunday.
