What a wonderful day to celebrate our Independence! Scharme and I had an amazing time in Chicago this past week officiating at a wedding of two of our members. As Katie and Steven made their vows to one another, I remembered Christ's deep love for each of us. I first met Katie when I came to serve as the youth pastor at our Leawood campus. Katie was a student leader and very active in helping me plan weekly messages for the youth ministry. Officiating at her wedding was very special! I've got another one this Saturday with two of our members. I also had the honor of baptizing one of them a few months ago! God is at work all around us here at Resurrection. I am so blessed to be a part of it!
Make plans to be in worship on Sunday for a family worship Sunday (no Kids COR or rezlife Sunday school - nursery always available). I will be preaching a sermon entitled, "Faith Like A Child". I had some help preparing this week's message from some of our youngest members. We asked them what it means to have faith and to respond to God's call. You will be inspired as you hear our youngest voices speak of faith and response!
Our rezlife teens had an amazing time at the ballpark last week. Over 80 came to cheer on the Royals!

FaithWork - Saturday, July 12, 9am. Adults, students and children of all ages are invited to join together and serve God by serving those in need. We'll meet at Resurrection West for breakfast snacks, coffee, project descriptions, and prayer. Then, we will stay on site and work on a variety of family-friendly mission opportunities. National Worship Leader Conference Volunteer Opportunity - Hospitality volunteers needed during the week of July 14-17 at the Leawood Campus. Day and evening serving opportunities available. Mega Mission - Ridgeview Elementary
On Saturday, Aug. 2, we will bless our partner school, Ridgeview Elementary, by helping to prepare the building and grounds for the start of the new school year. Let's meet at Resurrection West at 9am for instructions, donut holes, coffee and prayer. Then at Ridgeview, we will sort school supplies, prepare classrooms, make crafts to welcome and encourage teachers, write notes of encouragement to the students and beautify the grounds. To wrap up our Mega Mission day, we'll host a celebration cookout for the parents and families of the Ridgeview community - complete with water fun and other activities for kids of all ages.
