Resurrection West,
What a beautiful morning! May this scripture ring true today in our hearts and minds today!
This Sunday I am excited to be preaching a message of vision for the future of Resurrection West. The workshop I taught this week at Institute was called The Power of Casting Vision. In my study and preparation, I believe vision to be about faithfulness to God! I am excited to expand on this idea in the message this Sunday, as well as share the latest drawings and visuals from our architectural team. Our building committee has worked diligently through the summer to develop building plans that will build the very best tool to fulfill the mission and vision of our Church. This will be an important message to prepare us for what God has in the coming year and even decades to come!
In my workshop yesterday I shared practical examples of how our vision is lived out throughout the year at Resurrection West. I shared some examples of great investment of laity well beyond the staff team. Examples included our Mega Mission, our KidsCOR Christmas Musical, and our Fall Festival. Each of these ministry events have amazingly invested members of our Church leading them forward. These events help accomplish our mission, which answers the question, why we exist? They build Christian community, reach non and nominally religious people and help all of us, especially those invested in the planning and implementing on the journey of becoming deeply committed Christians. I could not have been more proud of our Church as I shared the many ways you are living out God’s call in our mission and vision of changing lives, transforming communities, and renewing Churches. It’s an honor to serve as your campus pastor and we are just getting started!
Consider these many upcoming next step opportunities.
Student Ministry Fall Retreats Metamorphosis is a weekend spiritual retreat for students at Youthfront Camp West in Edgerton, KS. This retreat is filled with worship, outdoor fun, small group time, and more. Hundreds will attend each weekend from all of four of our campuses. Don't miss Meta! Cost is $105 for lodging, meals and materials. For more information or to register, go to rezwest.org/students.
Attention KiDS COR Parents: Sign Up Your 3rd Grader for Bible Presentation. During worship services at 9am,10:45am and 5pm on Oct. 12. Transform a Community with Christmas in October – Resurrection’s Christmas In October Team will send hundreds of volunteers into the Wendell-Phillips area of our city Saturday, Oct. 11, to help low-income homeowners rebuild their homes. Through CIO, Resurrection has become a major force in helping elderly, disabled and veteran homeowners remain in their homes. With your help, homes are made weather tight, exteriors are cleaned up and through our year-round efforts, wheelchair accessible ramps are built almost weekly. Sign up at cor.org/cio. All skill levels welcome to serve.
Fall Festival at Resuurection West - Come Grow With Us! Saturday, October 11, 5pm - Fireworks at 7:15pm! Come for dinner, stay for the fun! Join us for games, wagon rides, corn maze, phot booth inflatables, face painting and more! Be sure to wear your costume for "Trunk - or - Treat". There will be an opportunity to participate in an international mission project – help feed hungry children around the world. Invite your friends – we’ll have something for everyone. If you would like to “host” a Trunk or Treat from your vehicle, help with games or contribute cupcakes or other items to the event, stop by the Fall Fest table in the entry. Contact Stephanie Makalous at smakalous@msn.com for more information.
Finally, I was moved to tears as I listened to pastor Adam interview Mindy Corporon at Institute Thursday morning.
Mindy is a member of our Church who tragically lost her father and her son at the Jewish Community Center shooting this past year. She spoke with poise, grace, and power as she exclaimed - faith always wins! Her strength continues to glorify God in and through our community. Take a look at the faith always wins website to see ways you can overcome evil with good! faithalwayswins.org

Psalms 69:30 - I will praise the name of God with song and magnify Him with thanksgiving.
It’s been an incredible week at Leadership Institute with 2200 ministry leaders from over 740 local Churches here in the US and beyond, including Russia and Cuba (which has launched over 400 Churches now)! God has been reviving all of us as we come together to praise with song and magnify God with thanksgiving! This Sunday I am excited to be preaching a message of vision for the future of Resurrection West.
