The Home Team Companionship
Program Orientation & Training Meeting
Tuesday, October 7, 2014
Connections Housing Community Room
1250 6th Avenue, San Diego 92101
6:30- 8:00 PM
What is a
Companion?
Companions are expected to be friends who support
those who are moving out of interim PATH housing to stabilize
in new housing and integrate with the community. Volunteer Companions
will be matched with individuals receiving housing support from PATH. The
role of the companion will be discussed in more detail at the meeting.
Companions are asked to commit a minimum of 5 hours per month. This
includes one hour of coaching and training per month.
This program is a partnership between PATH, UPLIFT,
and Downtown
Fellowship. It is a pilot program and we will begin with
approximately 10 companions.
If you are interested to be a companion
or learn more about this new program join us on October 7 at 6:30 PM.
We continue to learn about the priority
of assisting people to find appropriate housing. Yet, we are also
learning that people need support as they move into new housing and
stabilize in the new community. Our support is a simple but profound
relationship. The key skill of a companion is listening. We will be
helping each other to be good listeners.
