The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection of Leawood, Kansas, United States for Sunday, 1 March 2015 - "Prayer Tip"

The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection of Leawood, Kansas, United States for Sunday, 1 March 2015 - "Prayer Tip"
Sunday, 1 March 2015 "Come Dream with Us"
Scripture: Then King David rose to his feet and said: “You, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve him with single mind and willing heart; for the Lord searches every mind, and understands every plan and thought … Take heed now, for the Lord has chosen you to build a house as the sanctuary; be strong, and act.”[Chronicles 28 (selected verses)]
Now to him who by his power working in us is able to do far beyond anything we can ask or imagine, to him be glory in the Messianic Community and in the Messiah Yeshua from generation to generation forever. Amen.[Ephesians 3:20-21]
Prayer Tip:
This week for the prayer tip God put it on my heart to share this prayer with you:
Dear God and lover of our souls, we pray to you this Lenten season for the worship experience that we receive from fellowship with you during the time we gather together as a congregation to hear your words of hope and encouragement. We pray to stay steadfast in our efforts to fast, pray, worship and stay away from things that may hinder us from being in connection with you, Lord God. God, let us have your joy and delight as we witness the construction of the new sanctuary at Church of the Resurrection's Leawood campus that will reflect your love, mercy and grace for generations to come. You hold the future in the palm of your hands. You know the people who will sit in the new sanctuary before they ever arrive. You knew we would be here at Resurrection before we got here, and Lord Jesus, we give you thanks because you have prayed on our behalf to the father. We pray for the people who will come to know and experience you for the first time in the new sanctuary and how they will go out and proclaim the good news to the world. Lord, we pray that your vision for Pastor Adam and our leaders here at Resurrection will continue to guide us closer to your divine light and love.
Precious Lord, this is a season of excitement and joy at what you are about to do in the weeks and months ahead. We pray that for every difficulty that may arise, you will make a way out of what seems impossible for humans to solve. We are joyous about the Cross, Christ and the symbolism associated with the Easter season as we anticipate the coming of Resurrection Day and our Lord Jesus who has RISEN! How glorious it is for us as Christians, because this is the pinnacle of our faith as believers in Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord.
Lord, we pray that you make your presence felt in our hearts and minds. Fill the current and new pews with people who will be drawn to you because of the Bible story preached, and told in the future in the stained glass window here at Resurrection's Leawood campus. We pray that lives will be touched, of people now and those who have not been born yet.
Lord, we come before your presence in a spirit of humility and prayer. We find ourselves in awe at your wonder, majestic beauty and love. You have constructed your Holy Essence in a way that connects with our bodies, our lives, our hurts, our worries, and our harms. Give us your comfort in the middle of the chaos we have created for ourselves and others. We pray, dear God, that you share your rest and comfort with us during this Lenten season. Help us abandon those negative aspects of ourselves that include bitterness, anger, hate, neglect and refusal to help "the least of these" in our community. Hear this prayer, O God, and remove the spiritual blindness that might corrupt your holy temple. "Create in us clean hearts," O God, so that the desire you have for us to love one another will become clear in the way we treat strangers, the homeless, the sick, the drug addicts, the prostitutes and the prisoners. Let the stories of healing, hope and redemption be told in the lives of the people who worship today at Resurrection, and after the new sanctuary is complete, to show how gracious you continue to be with your people, O God.
You have fashioned us out of the dust and every day we fail to do the things that we should do. Lord, let this one thing become true as we praise and worship you—that we hope to honor you in all we do both in private and in public affairs. We pray that you will continue to "inhabit the praises of your people" in new and old sacred spaces and places. O God stand by your promise that you will never leave or forsake us during the most difficult periods of our lives, and you will rejoice with us when we celebrate the first days of worship in our new sanctuary. Let all the people of God shout with joy. Praise The Lord!
This week, as your prayer challenge, will you join me in praying for the future of the church each day?[Darryl Burton, Resurrection Pastoral Intern]
