Trinity United Methodist Church Of Gainesville, Florida, United States "Tuesday Word" for Tuesday, March 31, 2015
Worship: Sundays @ 8:15 am, 9:40 am, 11:00 am | Wednesdays @ 6:35 pm | Fridays @ 7:00 pm
Friends,
During this holiest week of the year for all of us who are followers of Jesus, I hope you'll do at least a couple of these things:
1. Come to one of the noontime services in the Trinity Chapel. Just sitting there in quiet, prayerful reflection is enough, but you also get to hear a wonderful message.
2. I would invite you to come to the Seder meal this Thursday, but it's already reached its max at 300 people! Thanks be to God for such a great response.
3. Read through the last chapters of one or all of the four Gospels, and enter into the story of Jesus' Passion - for us and the whole world.
4. Catch some quiet moments to pray, especially on Friday as we remember our Lord and Savior.
5. Invite your neighbors and friends to join you for one of our four Easter Worship Services (7:00Sunrise, bring a lawn chair; 8:15, 9:40 and 11:00). I'll be preaching on two very different, yet similar persons in the Resurrection Story: Mary Magdalene and Thomas the Doubter; we're all a little like each of them. We will then conclude our worship with the singing of the Hallelujah Chorus! Here's the truth: more and more people are knowing less and less about The Story - the life giving story. Let's commit to sharing the Good News.
Please remember to bring flowers for the Blossoming Cross on Easter morning!
If you've been one of those who have been thinking of joining Trinity, there's no better time than this Saturday at the Easter Vigil in the Chapel at noon. Already 20 persons are planning to join; we would love to have you, too!
Our friend, Rev. James Johnson, of Greater Liberty UMC here in Gainesville is in need of some volunteer carpenters who can help with a project in their church sanctuary on NW 23rd Ave. If you can help, please contact Rev. Dan or Tammy.
A blessed Holy Week to you all,
Rev. Dan
P.S. A big "Thank You!" to our congregation! We know many of you did conscientiously increase your pledge for 2015, and have also responded to our latest appeal; your Finance Committee and Church Council are so aware of the amazing generosity of our Trinity family over these many years, and we never will take that for granted! Thanks and God bless.

A Word from Rev. Esther
Rev. Esther's Blog
"When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss,
And pour contempt on all my pride."
I love this hymn by Isaac Watts and it's been on my mind this Passion/Holy Week. I'll even be singing it this Wednesday at the 6:35 service- one of many opportunities this week to contemplate on the significance of this powerful time. I hope it doesn't pass you by and leave you the same. May your reflections be honest and may you absorb the length, width, height, and depth of God's love.
