We are frightened of each other. People in the United States are frightened of Islam. People in the north are frightened of people in the south. People in the south are frightened of people in the north. We are frightened to walk on the streets of New York and Montreal at night. We are frightened. So somewhere in order to leave the fear, we need community – a community based on a living spirit of God.[Jean Vanier, Man Alive, CBC, March 1992]
