Sunday's Sermon. "And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none." (Ezekiel 22:30 - KJV) Don't miss Pastor Cleaver's Father's Day sermon, "Father's Needed," this Sunday at 8 a.m., 10 a.m. or 11 a.m. This is a message for ALL men, not just those with children. Invite the men in your life to worship with you this Sunday and learn to stand in the gap and make a difference in our world!
Combined Outdoor Worship. Sunday, June 26 at 10:00 a.m., the Paseo and Renaissance Campuses will come together for one outdoor worship celebration. The Paseo Campus will be closed, June 26, 2016, for this special worship service at the Renaissance Campus located at 7205 Longview Road, KCMO. Worshipers at both campuses are encouraged to attend as we join as one body. If you are unable to worship outside, accommodations have been made for you to worship inside. Childcare will be available for ages 1-4. A special worship experience will be held for children and youth ages 5-18. The dress is casual and everyone is asked to wear their 2016 Next Generation t-shirts.
Kidz Connect. Children ages 5-10 are invited to worship together every 4th Sunday at 8 a.m. worship and every Sunday at 11 a.m. Kidz Connect incorporates praise & worship, offering, communion, arts & crafts and science activities. Check-in and register 15 minutes before worship or anytime online.
Kidz Care Nursery. Childcare is now available for children ages 1-4 Sundays during 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. worship and Wednesday evenings during Wednesday Night Live. The nursery is located on the lower level in Kidz Kingdom. Click here to register your child.
Upcoming Sermon Series.


Walking a Mile for Jesus. Come out and walk a mile at one of Kansas City's scenic parks. This will be a great time to enjoy the outdoors and participate in biblical discussion. Participants will receive a recipe to try each week for attending as well. Upcoming park locations:

Dinner for 8. Each week for an eight week series, participants have an opportunity to meet at each other's homes to enjoy one another's company, eat great food and participate in an exciting study. The groups begin to meet the week of June 11th. To sign up, see Crystal Johnson after the 8 a.m. or 11 a.m. worship or contact Crystal at 816-820-7706 with any questions or to sign up.
Prayer Class. The Prayer Ministry continues its short-term study based on the book and movie "The War Room." Join us after 8 a.m. worship this Sunday in the Vaughn Chapel. Advance reading is not required.
Bible Study. Join us Tuesdays at the Renaissance Campus from 6 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. for refreshments and study from 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Led by Pastor Settles, this Growth Group is interactive, dialogue is encouraged. Grab your Bible and come on out!
Men's Weekend 2016 - Theme: "Boys to Men in Prayer"
Friday, August 19th, 6pm - Pastor's 100 Men Fellowship Dinner
Join us at 6 p.m. at the PeachTree Buffet. Tickets are $15, and available each Sunday after worship or through any member of the United Methodist Men. Tickets are not available online.
Saturday, August 20th, 9am - Boys to Men Prayer Summit
There is no cost for this event, but registration is requested.
Sunday, August 21st, 8am and 11am - Men's Day
Pastor Antonio Settles of St. Andrew UMC is our guest preacher. The Master's Men Choir and Majestic Men Dancers will all minister in music.

Senior Appreciation Breakfast. This Sunday, June 19th from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., we will thank and appreciate the senior members of our church with a special breakfast in the Ministry Mall. All those ages 65 and older are invited to attend. Thank you for your years for service to the Lord and for guiding the generations that followed. We do not want to leave any Senior Member out - so please INFORM and ENCOURAGE other church members age 65 and older to attend. WE look forward to SERVING you - just as you have done so for so many!
Encouragement Ministry. Thank you to all who continue to support this effort. Simply sign your name to a 'thinking of you' or encouragement card. Write the name of a person on the 'At Home' listing of our prayer list on the envelope and place it in the collection box in the Narthex. Church Cookout. Sunday, June 26th - eight days and counting! All members are encouraged to attend and make donations to the cookout. Everyone can bring something - from hamburger/hot dog buns to soda.
Stop by the sign up table after worship this Sunday to see the list of items still needed. Donations can be dropped off at the Renaissance Campus (7205 Longview Rd) on the following dates/times:
Wednesday, June 22nd, 6 p.m. - 7 p.m.
Thursday, June 23rd, 3 p.m. - 7 p.m.
Friday, June 24th, 3 p.m. - 7 p.m.
Saturday, June 25th, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Bowling League. Tuesdays at 6 p.m. at Premier Bowling Alley (11400 E 350 HWY Raytown MO 64139). The league is open to all, so if you or someone you know likes to bowl this league is perfect for honing your skills. If you don't have your own bowling gear for the league, the bowling alley provides bowling balls and shoes. All proceeds are donated to the church. Summer Camps (VBS). Children ages 5-11 are offered an opportunity to experience God in surprising and unforgettable ways. Adventure Camp will be held at the Paseo Campus June 22-24. Mega Sports Camp will be held at the Renaissance Campus June 27-30. Register online or stop by the registration table after worship. Volunteers are needed for both camps. RAGE. Pastor Fulton begins a new teaching series, "There's an App for That," this Wednesday, June 22nd. All youth ages 11-18 are invited to participate. Bring a friend and come early for dinner at 6 p.m. We'll have awesome praise & worship in the Ministry Mall at 7 p.m. then head down to the Youth Room.
Kidz Connect. Volunteers are still needed to serve Wednesday evenings from 7 p.m. - 8 p.m. during Wednesday Night Live. The level of commitment is to only two Wednesdays a quarter for an hour of activity. Positions include an Activity Facilitator, Activity Assistant and Registrar to check children in & out. Let's Play Ball. We'll have a day of kickball for the whole family
Saturday, July 2nd from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at the Renaissance Campus. Lunch (beef hotdogs, chips and water) will be provided. This event is completely free for the whole family! Please register to afulton@stjamesumc.com to ensure we have enough for everyone.

Tops & Socks. We are collecting clean, gently used or new clothing and shoes for children Pre-K- 8th grade for our July 30 back to school event. Many children miss the beginning of school because they lack the proper attire to attend. Your contribution will help us support the district's effort to reach 100% first day attendance. Collection boxes can be found in the Narthex.
Save the Eggs! Harvesters received a semi-trailer truck of eggs - that's26,000 dozen! The eggs are packed for restaurant use in flats of two dozen. They are seeking donations of empty egg cartons to repackage and protect the eggs during the transportation process to share them with more food insecure families. If you have empty egg cartons, please bring them to worship this weekend.
