Overall enrollment showing steady increase for third consecutive year
Claremont School of Theology is thrilled to announce this year’s incoming class is the School’s largest in recent history. More than 120 new students are expected this year, up from 97 in 2015, an increase of at least 25 percent. The School also experienced steady growth over the last three years and met or exceeded all of its student enrollment goals.
“This is fantastic news for all of us – students, staff, faculty, and supporters – and the world of religious education,” said Murad Dibbini, Senior Director of Admissions and Enrollment Services and Principal Designated School Official for International Students. “We worked so hard to achieve these goals, reaching out to students from all walks of faith and beliefs, and meeting their needs, whether international, hybrid, or right here on our Claremont campus.”
Overall enrollment is steadily rising as well. In Fall 2015, total enrollment was 335; this Fall, that total could exceed 385, an increase of at least 15 percent. Dibbini says there are four key factors in this steady increase: The School’s continued commitment to its United Methodist foundation as well as its ecumenical and interreligious partnerships; the availability of hybrid/online courses; and CST’s world-class faculty.
“Our representatives – myself included – are very active within our denominations,” said President Kah-Jin Jeffrey Kuan, a United Methodist elder. “We also increased our ecumenical partnerships again – most recently signing an agreement with the St. Athanasius and St. Cyril Coptic Orthodox Theological School (ACTS) – and continued to expand our interfaith commitment.”
The School also broke records with 40 United Methodist students and 18 international students – the largest numbers in CST’s history. The student body comes from 27 faiths or practices, 13 countries, and 21 states coast-to-coast, with nearly 60 percent from California, and more than half non-white.
The School’s largest source of student interest came through referrals. CST is grateful for the continuing support of its alumni, faculty, staff, friends, and donors.-------
