Read
"All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us" (2 Corinthians 1:3-4.)
"He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever" (Revelation 21:4).
"And we believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering. We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children, including the new bodies he has promised us" (Romans 8:23).
"'O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?' For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ" (1 Corinthians 15:55-57).
Reflect
As scary as death is, it’s nice to know that there’s going to be an end to pain and suffering. It’s also nice to know that God isn’t necessarily pro pain. He isn’t sitting in heaven, giggling every time we grimace. Instead, he steps in to comfort us when we hurt. He might not take all of our pain away, but he’s there to take the edge off and give it meaning.
Respond
Take this week to see how pain has made you grow.
