"PETITION: Demand justice for Haiti" from Partners In Health in Boston, Massachusetts, United States for Friday, 26 August 2016
Tell the U.N. to fund the FIGHT to end cholera in Haiti!
Nearly 10,000 people in Haiti have already died from cholera, in the world's worst ongoing outbreak. The epidemic shows no signs of slowing down.
Less than a week ago, the United Nations accepted responsibility for introducing cholera to Haiti in 2010, when U.N. peacekeepers contaminated a crucial waterway. Today we support the people of Haiti by demanding ACTION to stop the spread of this devastating disease.
Please sign our petition today. Demand the U.N. fund a comprehensive plan to eliminate cholera in Haiti, including national vaccination campaigns, household water treatment, and clean water and sanitation!
In 2016 alone, cholera has already sickened 14,000 Haitians, perhaps one of the worst spikes since the initial outbreak.
The violent diarrhea and vomiting brought on by this water-borne disease can dehydrate and kill in mere hours. For six years, this scourge has claimed lives in Haiti's poorest communities—where clean water and proper sanitation are scarce.
The United Nations must act now to right this wrong.
Please demand justice for Haiti. Sign our petition to the United Nations today.
We'll deliver signatures to U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Samantha Power when the General Assembly meets in New York in September.
Together, we can make a difference.
