gotandem "No Longer Strangers" for Friday, 2 September 2016

gotandem "No Longer Strangers" for Friday, 2 September 2016
So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family. Together, we are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself.[Ephesians 2:19-20]
How can you help God's family stronger this week?

gotandem "Labor Day: Day 2: Was Work Always Hard?" for Friday, 2 September 2016
For those of you who hate gardening like me, Adam getting plopped into the garden after creation must have seemed like some sort of cruel punishment. I mean, God creates you and then places you to be a caretaker of land and animal (Genesis 2:15), that's hard work. But it doesn't appear that Adam was bothered by it. In fact, it seems he enjoyed it.
There's this psychological theory of something called the "flow." It's that moment where you get lost in your work. Everything seems clicking. Time doesn't matter. You are doing your thing until that thing gets done and the rest of the world may as well not exist. I believe that this is what work was meant to feel like.
Instead, for the most part, we toil. We work hard and we have to fight distraction because, if we're honest, work is work. And don't get me wrong, we're called to work. In 2 Thessalonians 3:10-12 the church was told "Those unwilling to work will not get to eat." And in Colossians 3:23 they were reminded to "Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people." So, we're instructed to work…not because it's easy. But because it's what we were put on this earth to do.
So let's get to work. Even when it's hard.

gotandem "Not Easily Shaken" for Friday, 2 September 2016
Don't be so easily shaken or alarmed by those who say that the day of the Lord has already begun. Don't believe them, even if they claim to have had a spiritual vision, a revelation, or a letter supposedly from us.[2 Thessalonians 2:2]
Who do you trust to help you interpret the Bible?
