We welcome Rev. Dr. Allan Boesak as the 2016 Saint Paul Wayne E. Drake Peace Lecturer. Join us all day to connect with faculty and hear a variety of information or for the evening lecture at 7:00 p.m.
Bio Allan Boesak is a theologian, humanitarian, author and advocate for social justice. During the 1980s he worked alongside Desmond Tutu and Nelson Mandela in South Africa to lead efforts against apartheid and promote reconciliation. He currently serves as the Desmond Tutu Chair of Peace, Global Justice and Reconciliation Studies at Christian Theological Seminary in Indiana. Allan Boesak's book Kairos, Crisis, and Global Apartheid: The Challenge to Prophetic Resistance is about theology from Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Boesak's text proposes that the world needs a kairos consciousness, a prophetic and truth-telling alertness to the critical moments when we should see, understand, and act wherever suffering and injustice threaten humanity.
