What a weekend we are about to have! On Saturday morning many of you are already serving on teams for our Christmas in October mission, then from 5-7pm we host our FALL FESTIVAL Saturday evening,followed by a fireworks extravaganza to close out the night! On Sunday we will worship together kicking off The Good Life series!
The weather is going to be incredible Saturday, so we could welcome 1,500 or even 2,000 of our neighbors at our FALL FESTIVAL. Who have you invited? I’m so thankful that of the 260 slots of service that need to be filled (providing candy, cupcakes, running game stations in 45-minute blocks, trunk or treat, grilling food, and more) we have only 52 slots left to be filled. I’m so proud to share with other pastors that our largest annual outreach event (outside of Christmas Eve and Easter worship) is completely led by lay members of our church. Our staff plug in where they need us. You may be interested in serving on next year’s Harvest Crew. The feeling throughout our Tuesday staff meetings was both energizing and inspiring as we plan the mission and ministry of our campus with our new team members. You’ll meet Britli Fuller, our new Elementary Program Director, in worship as we bless our 3rd graders with Bibles this Sunday! Christmas in October – Saturday, October 8, 8 am – 4 pm. Resurrection partners with Christmas In October, a local non-profit, that for the past 33 years has been focused on rehabilitating the houses of lower-income homeowners in the Kansas City area at no cost to the homeowners. Through our relationship with Christmas in October and your help, Resurrection has become a major force in helping elderly, disabled and veteran homeowners remain in their homes. Some of what will happen on October 8, is winterization, painting, yard cleaned up and minor repairs. This year RezWest is sponsoring two houses. We have 27 spots available to fill up with RezWest people. For more information and/or to register to help with a RezWest house, visit cor.org/cio.
3rd Grade Bible Presentation – All 3rd graders are invited to participate in the 3rd Grade Bible Presentation coming up on Sunday, October 9. Register online to attend the service of your choice atcor.org/west/3rdgradebible. If your 3rd grader cannot attend, please register and we will still reserve a Bible for you!
The Road to Wisdom Marriage Course - This study uses the Enneagram Personality Assessment to help you understand not only yourself, but also your spouse’s personality. The Enneagram identifies nine unique personality types. Dr. Dennis and Reve Butler have led this course for business organizations, staff teams, individuals and church groups for years. The class will meet Monday evenings from 6:30-8:15, Oct. 10, 17, 24; Nov. 7, 14, 21. For more information, contact Dave.Robertson@cor.org.
TGiF! 4th and 5th Grade on October 14 from 6-8pm – It’s a night just for 4th & 5th graders! Come out for pizza, Minute-To-Win-It challenges and dessert creations. Invite your friends and bring them along - all 4th & 5th graders are welcome! We're super excited about this fun, interactive evening of games, food and fellowship. Register at cor.org/west/tgif
Considering making RezWest your new Church home? Come have pizza with the pastors on Sunday, Oct. 16, from 12:30-2:30 pm and take the first step toward joining the church. You will learn about the history of Resurrection West, hear from Senior Pastor Adam Hamilton via video on the beliefs and traditions of the United Methodist Church and get to know Resurrection West pastors Jason Gant and Chris Holliday. You will also meet your Congregational Care Ministers (CCMs), connect with fellow Resurrection West worshippers and hear about opportunities to serve, connect and grow! Dave Ramsey's Smart Money Tour – Learn ways to manage your money from Financial Peace leader Dave Ramsey, speaking at the Leawood Campus, Thursday, Oct. 20, 6:30 pm. Sign Up for Upward Basketball – Registration is open for kids kindergarten to 5th grade for the season beginning in January. Player evaluations are Tuesday, October 18, and Thursday, October 20, from 6-8 pmat Resurrection West and are come and go. Cost for the season is $100, with a $10 discount for 2nd and 3rd siblings. The purpose of Upward is to help develop kids mentally, athletically, spiritually and socially. Learn more and register by November 19, at cor.org/west/upward.
rezlife Student Ministry Fall Retreat- Metamorphosis – A spiritual weekend retreat at Youthfront West with worship, games, campfires, hayrides and time for students to grow deeper in faith. Two retreats are available: one on Nov. 4-6 for 6/7/8th grade and the other on Nov. 18-20 for high school age students.cor.org/west/students
