Matthew 2:1 After Yeshua was born in Beit-Lechem in the land of Y’hudah during the time when Herod was king, Magi from the east came to Yerushalayim 2 and asked, “Where is the newborn King of the Jews? For we saw his star in the east and have come to worship him.”
3 When King Herod heard of this he became very agitated, and so did everyone else in Yerushalayim. 4 He called together all the head cohanim and Torah-teachers of the people and asked them, “Where will the Messiah be born?” 5 “In Beit-Lechem of Y’hudah,” they replied, “because the prophet wrote,
6 ‘And you, Beit-Lechem in the land of Y’hudah,
are by no means the least among the rulers of Y’hudah;
for from you will come a Ruler
who will shepherd my people Isra’el.’”[Matthew 2:6 Micah 5:1(2)]
7 Herod summoned the Magi to meet with him privately and asked them exactly when the star had appeared. 8 Then he sent them to Beit-Lechem with these instructions: “Search carefully for the child; and when you find him, let me know, so that I too may go and worship him.”
9 After they had listened to the king, they went away; and the star which they had seen in the east went in front of them until it came and stopped over the place where the child was. 10 When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. 11 Upon entering the house, they saw the child with his mother Miryam; and they prostrated themselves and worshipped him. Then they opened their bags and presented him gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. 12 But they had been warned in a dream not to return to Herod, so they took another route back to their own country.

When the wise men came to Jerusalem, they asked people, "Where is the child who has been born to be the king of the Jews? We saw the star that shows he was born. We saw it rise in the sky in the east and have come to worship him" (verse 2).
The wise men were very clear about the purpose of their visit to Jerusalem. They had come to worship Jesus! That makes me wonder - what does it mean to truly worship God?
True worship is more than just actions. It means that we have a deep love for God. "God is love. Every one who lives in love lives in God, and God lives in them" (1 John 4:16). And true worship is an expression of our love and respect for God. "Praise the Lord and honor his name! Worship the Lord in all his holy beauty" (Psalm 29:2).
Will you be like the wise men and truly worship God today and every day?[GT]
"Come, let us bow down and worship him! Let us kneel before the Lord who made us. He is our God, and we are the people he cares for, his sheep that walk by his side."[Psalm 95:6-7]
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I want to truly worship You. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Instead of being selfish, the wise men were generous - very generous! Remember the gifts that they gave to Jesus? They gave gold, frankincense and myrrh. We all know that gold is expensive. And frankincense and myrrh were very valuable spices. These men were willing to give costly gifts to a young child.
God has blessed all of us in many ways. Some of us have great wealth and possessions. Others have talents and skills. God expects each of us to use these blessings for His kingdom.
Think about the ways God has blessed you. Thank God for these blessings. Then think about ways you can share these blessings with other people.[GT]
"And don't forget to do good and to share what you have with others, because sacrifices like these are very pleasing to God."[Hebrews 13:16]
PRAYER: Father, thank You for Your blessings. Help me to share these blessings with others. In Jesus' name. Amen.-------

Yesterday we talked about the wise men being wealthy. These men probably had a lot of possessions, but they were not selfish. They didn't keep all they had to themselves.Instead of being selfish, the wise men were generous - very generous! Remember the gifts that they gave to Jesus? They gave gold, frankincense and myrrh. The wise men were well-educated men. They were also wealthy. They had to be wealthy in order to give such expensive gifts to Jesus. But it is interesting that these educated and wealthy men "bowed down" and worshiped a young child. These men were wise enough to know that Jesus was worthy of their honor, respect and worship. They were also wise enough to humbly bow before Him.
I pray that you and I will be like these wise men. I hope that we will recognize that Jesus is worthy of our praise, adoration and worship. Let's humble ourselves before Jesus Christ and worship and adore Him today![GT]

Today we will continue talking about the wise men. Verse 11 of our Bible Reading tells us, "The wise men came to the house where the child was with his mother Mary. They bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened the boxes of gifts they had brought for him. They gave him treasures of gold, frankincense, and myrrh."The wise men were well-educated men. They were also wealthy. They had to be wealthy in order to give such expensive gifts to Jesus. But it is interesting that these educated and wealthy men "bowed down" and worshiped a young child.
