The Rev. Alvin H. Smith, 85, a retired clergy member of the Great Plains United Methodist Conference, passed away Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016. He was born June 6, 1931 near Monroe, Nebraska to Harold and Betty Smith.He served Pleasant Hill-Morning Star in Iowa; Sublette Congregational in Illinois; Cambridge-Orafino; Orchard; Falls City Parish; Bellevue; Seward in Nebraska and retired in 1997. He served Nebraska conference churches for 44 years.
Al is survived by daughters, Joleen Widman, Bethanne (Tim) Topolski, Paula Juza, Amy (Fred) Moreau; and son John (Donna) Smith.
The service is Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016 at the United Methodist Church, 1400 N. 5th St., Seward, Nebraska, at 11 a.m.
