Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! What an incredible time it was to worship with you at Candlelight Christmas Eve this year. We welcomed 2,897 over the seven worship services. I want to say a special word of thanks to the hundreds of you that worshiped at less opportune times to make room for all and to the dozens of volunteers who served as greeters, ushers, parking, hospitality, childcare, safety, security, musicians, support, and more. Your willingness to do so opened seats for all who came and created a wonderful environment to welcome people to RezWest. I thought you might enjoy the breakdown of attendance of our services…

Again thank you for being so committed to God’s mission for our church to build Christian community where non religious and nominally religious people are becoming deeply committed Christians.
This Sunday we celebrate the New Year with just two worship services at 9:30am & 11am. Childcare for 4 years and under will be available at both services, but no KiDSCOR or rezlife Sunday school. We will welcome our children & teens to worship together with us this Sunday. It will be my privilege to preach a sermon simply titled - Light. Each worship service will include a children’s sermon, sharing Holy Communion, and a special gift for each household inspiring a prayer of action for the coming year!
Here are a few ways to get connected in this new year as we grow and serve together….
Explore Life and Faith in Alpha. The Alpha Course is a 6-week class with great meals, inspiring talks and engaging discussion. It begins Monday, January 9, 6:30 pm in the lower level room 025 at The Church of the Resurrection West, and concludes the week of February 13. Alpha is for anyone – no matter where they are on their faith journey. The course is $30 per person which includes six catered meals. Childcare is free and scholarships are available. RezWest United Methodist Women's Circle will meet Wednesday, January 4, 12:30 pm in the lower level room 003 classroom. Sharon Forbach will share information on the organization, "Young Women on the Move," which partners with Kansas City, Kansas public schools to develop healthy life skills and mentoring programs for girls in eight middle schools and five high schools.
MLK MEGA MISSION – Monday, Jan. 16, 9 am – 11:30 am. Meet at Resurrection West for a morning of service and community building as we honor Dr. King and his amazing impact on our country and world. Pack over 15,000 meals to help tackle hunger internationally. Fill 500 bag lunches to assist the homeless in KC. Sort and prepare used LEGOs for children in- need. Make Valentines for Veterans. Spend time in the hands-on prayer room and focus on connecting with God, embracing diversity and loving/serving all. All participants will receive a 2017 MEGA MISSION t-shirt. All ages welcome.
