The Very Last Enote of 2016 from Pastor Scott Chrostek for Friday,   December 30, 2016 from The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection Downtown in Kansas City, Missouri, United States
Greetings RezDowntowners,
What a beautiful week it has been in Kansas City. It's hard to believe it was below zero a little more than a week ago. Things have been fairly slow in the office this week, but after the advent we experienced this year it was fun to be able to spend some time reflecting over all that God has done in our community just within the last month. Between the amazing Thanksgiving celebration with the Healing House, Christmas parties with our mission partners, joy boxes and parties with the students at Wendell Phillips in addition to donations for their Tiger Store it has been a season marked by overwhelming generosity. Additionally, we hosted our largest Christmas Eve crowds to date! Between our five worship services on Friday and Saturday nights we hosted over 1850 people! That represents a 27% increase from the year before! How amazing is that?!? Thank you to all of you who invited friends and family and came out to worship, and very special thank you to those of you who spent your Christmas Eve serving and volunteering to make these services run so smoothly!
My friends, I am so excited for the New Year. 2017 is going to be filled with all sorts of new adventures, classes and community outreach. We anticipate breaking ground on our new church building, but in addition to that, we envision expanding our footprint in downtown Kansas City by multiplying our service and outreach to the surrounding neighborhood so that together we might build Christian community that will work together to transform the heart of the city by the grace of Jesus Christ. This weekend we’ll focus in on where God is leading us, and how without a clear sense of where we’re going you’ll never know when you get there! I’m going to be preaching live this weekend a message that pushes us to dream of the future, regardless of where we’ve come from or what we have endured up until now, for greater things are still to come and still to be done in this city! Join me Sunday morning at 9 and 10:45am as we ring in 2017 with perfect attendance!

Worship This Weekend: New Years Day Services. Start your year out right by spending New Year’s Day with Pastor Scott, who will be preaching live, along with others in your community. We will be hosting services at 9am & 10:45 am only. No other worship services will be offered on Dec. 31st or Jan. 1st. The two services will be family-friendly worship with childcare for kids 4 and under!
Starting January 8th: New Year, New Worship Time! Starting, Sunday, January 8, the new worship time for 1508 Grand will be 10:45am. We are working to make room for all and 10:45am seems to be a hit! This will give folks more opportunities and seats to worship at this popular time. We are grateful for the Grand attenders who are supporting this time change. Would you consider giving Grand a try? You’ll have the same awesome service and music! KiDSCOR will be available to kids from birth to kindergarten.
Happy New Year from RezMoms!! Want to start the New Year right? Come and ask questions of more experienced moms who have been there before! Come with your questions about parenting, family, marriage, and all things kids! RezMoms is a monthly gathering of mothers of early childhood and school aged children, walking side by side, learning and growing together during the tough stuff of parenting. We will meet in the coffee shop on Saturday, January 7, from 9-10:30am. There will be childcare. Please be sure to register your child on the events page! Hope to see you there! Our next meeting will be outside the church walls for valentine's cookie decorating. The next formal meeting will be in March.
