"Actions" with The Bible Reading: James 2:14-19 for Tuesday, 2 May 2017James 2:14 What good is it, my brothers, if someone claims to have faith but has no actions to prove it? Is such “faith” able to save him? 15 Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food, 16 and someone says to him, “Shalom! Keep warm and eat hearty!” without giving him what he needs, what good does it do? 17 Thus, faith by itself, unaccompanied by actions, is dead.
18 But someone will say that you have faith and I have actions. Show me this faith of yours without the actions, and I will show you my faith by my actions! 19 You believe that “God is one”?[James 2:19 Deuteronomy 6:4] Good for you! The demons believe it too — the thought makes them shudder with fear!

I saw a video of a little boy. His hands and face were covered with chocolate brownie crumbs. The little boy said, "I didn't eat the brownies." The little boy's words and actions did not match.
Some Christians today are like that little boy. They say that they follow Jesus. But then these people lie, gossip, cheat, steal and refuse to help needy people. Their actions do not match what they say. These people ruin their Christian testimony to others.
In verse 18b of our Bible Reading, James said, "I will show you my faith by the good I do." The things we do should be proof of our faith in Jesus Christ. If our words and actions don't match, some people may never follow Jesus. Our actions should show others that Jesus is our Lord and Savior.
Examine your actions today. Be sure that you are truly following Jesus and His teachings in the Bible.
"If you don't help them, your words are worthless. It is the same with faith. If it is just faith and nothing more- if it doesn't do anything - it is dead."[James 4:16b-17]
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I want to be like Jesus and to obey Your Word. In His name. Amen.
