Psalm 62:1 (0) For the leader. Set in the style of Y’dutun. A psalm of David:
2 (1) My soul waits in silence for God alone;
my salvation comes from him.
3 (2) He alone is my rock and salvation,
my stronghold; I won’t be greatly moved.
my salvation comes from him.
3 (2) He alone is my rock and salvation,
my stronghold; I won’t be greatly moved.
4 (3) How long will you assail a person
in order to murder him, all of you,
as if he were a sagging wall
or a shaky fence?
in order to murder him, all of you,
as if he were a sagging wall
or a shaky fence?
5 (4) They only want to shake him from his height,
they take delight in lying —
with their mouths they bless,
but inwardly they curse. (Selah)
they take delight in lying —
with their mouths they bless,
but inwardly they curse. (Selah)
6 (5) My soul, wait in silence for God alone,
because my hope comes from him.
7 (6) He alone is my rock and salvation,
my stronghold; I won’t be moved.
because my hope comes from him.
7 (6) He alone is my rock and salvation,
my stronghold; I won’t be moved.
8 (7) My safety and honor rest on God.
My strong rock and refuge are in God.
9 (8) Trust in him, people, at all times;
pour out your heart before him;
God is a refuge for us. (Selah)
10 (9) Ordinary folks are merely a breath
and important people a sham;
if you lay them on a balance-scale, they go up —
both together are lighter than nothing.
11 (10) Don’t put your trust in extortion,
don’t put false hopes in robbery;
even if wealth increases,
don’t set your heart on it.
My strong rock and refuge are in God.
9 (8) Trust in him, people, at all times;
pour out your heart before him;
God is a refuge for us. (Selah)
10 (9) Ordinary folks are merely a breath

11 (10) Don’t put your trust in extortion,
don’t put false hopes in robbery;
even if wealth increases,
don’t set your heart on it.
12 (11) God has spoken once, I have heard it twice:
strength belongs to God.
strength belongs to God.
Every person longs for rest from the stresses and problems of life. Many Christians are weary and in need of physical rest, but they fear being called lazy. Many even feel guilty for taking the Sabbath rest ordained by God. This is because we misunderstand the purpose of rest.
Psalm 62 describes a rest that is truly about faith. Could it be that we lack rest and are filled with anxiety because we do not trust in God to provide everything we need? We say we are justified by faith in Christ alone and yet many of us behave as if we must work to earn God’s reward. To rest in God is to trust Him in all things: good and bad, failure and victory, in plenty and in want.
Are you weary and frightened because you do not feel you measure up to a Christian standard of living? Then find your rest in God. Rest in Christ as your foundation for everything. Allow Him to do the work in you only He can do. Pour out the depths of your heart to God. His power and unfailing love will bring you the reward of His rest and presence forevermore.

"Near to the Heart of God" by Cleland B. McAfee
1. There is a place of quiet rest,
Near to the heart of God;
A place where sin cannot molest,
Near to the heart of God.
Refrain:
O Jesus, blest Redeemer,
Sent from the heart of God;
Hold us, who wait before Thee,
Near to the heart of God.
2. There is a place of comfort sweet,
Near to the heart of God;
A place where we our Savior meet,
Near to the heart of God.
Refrain:
O Jesus, blest Redeemer,
Sent from the heart of God;
Hold us, who wait before Thee,
Near to the heart of God.
3. There is a place of full release,
Near to the heart of God;
A place where all is joy and peace,
Near to the heart of God.
Refrain:
O Jesus, blest Redeemer,
Sent from the heart of God;
Hold us, who wait before Thee,
Near to the heart of God.

So there remains a Shabbat-keeping for God’s people. For the one who has entered God’s rest has also rested from his own works, as God did from his. [Hebrews 4:9-10]

Embrace Holy Living - Reflecting God - the Wordaction of the Nazarene Publishing House of The Global Church of the Nazarene in Kansas City, Missouri, United States for Saturday, 27 May 2017 - "Speak With God’s Love" by Paul Martinez for Saturday. 27 May 2017 with Scripture: 1 Timothy 1:1-11
1 Timothy 1:1 From: Sha’ul, an emissary of the Messiah Yeshua by command of God our deliverer and the Messiah Yeshua our hope,2 To: Timothy, a true son because of your trust:
Grace, mercy and shalom from God the Father and the Messiah Yeshua our Lord.
3 As I counseled you when I was leaving for Macedonia, stay on in Ephesus, so that you may order certain people who are teaching a different doctrine to stop. 4 Have them stop devoting their attention to myths and never-ending genealogies; these divert people to speculating instead of doing God’s work, which requires trust. 5 The purpose of this order is to promote love from a clean heart, from a good conscience and from sincere trust. 6 Some, by aiming amiss, have wandered off into fruitless discussion. 7 They want to be teachers of Torah, but they understand neither their own words nor the matters about which they make such emphatic pronouncements. 8 We know that the Torah is good, provided one uses it in the way the Torah itself intends. 9 We are aware that Torah is not for a person who is righteous, but for those who are heedless of Torah and rebellious, ungodly and sinful, wicked and worldly, for people who kill their fathers and mothers, for murderers, 10 the sexually immoral — both heterosexual and homosexual — slave dealers, liars, perjurers, and anyone who acts contrary to the sound teaching 11 that accords with the Good News of the glorious and blessed God.
This Good News was entrusted to me;

Life has no greater purpose than to know God and to make Him known. God is love and Jesus is the very expression of that love. Jesus is the model: the “pioneer and perfecter” of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). As disciples of Jesus, our purpose in life is to become more and more like Him.
The apostle Paul instructed his protégé Timothy to oppose false teachers in the church. The manner in which Timothy was to combat false teachings and controversies did not come from a heart filled with hatred. Rather, Christlike love pours from the fountain of a pure heart obedient to God and full of faith resting in the glory of God.
Whenever we encounter false teaching and sinners who vehemently oppose us, our reaction should not be to hate them. No, these times are opportunities to remember that we too were once the worst of sinners, and God conquered our hatred with His love. The unsaved do not know better, but we know Christ and the power of His resurrection. Let us then hold onto our faith and speak with love, because Jesus in us is the very expression of God's Love.-------

"Love Divine, All Loves Excelling" by Charles Wesley
- Love divine, all loves excelling,
Joy of heaven to earth come down,
Fix in us thy humble dwelling,
All thy faithful mercies crown;
Jesu, thou art all compassion,
Pure unbounded love thou art,
Visit us with thy salvation,
Enter every trembling heart.
- Breathe, O breathe thy loving Spirit
Into every troubled breast,
Let us all in thee inherit,
Let us find that second rest:
Take away our power13 of sinning,
Alpha and Omega be,
End of faith as its beginning,
Set our hearts at liberty.
- Come, Almighty to deliver,
Let us all thy life receive,
Suddenly return, and never,
Never more thy temples leave.
Thee we would be always blessing,
Serve thee as thy hosts above,
Pray, and praise thee without ceasing,
Glory in thy perfect love.
- Finish then thy new creation,
Pure and sinless let us be,
Let us see thy great salvation,
Perfectly restor’d in thee;
Chang’d from glory into glory,
Till in heaven we take our place,
Till we cast our crowns before thee,
Lost in wonder, love, and praise!

and live a life of love, just as also the Messiah loved us, indeed, on our behalf gave himself up as an offering, as a slaughtered sacrifice to God with a pleasing fragrance. [Ephesians 5:2]
