Reflecting God - Embrace Holy Living - The Global Church of the Nazarene's Foundry Publishing House in Kansas City, Missouri, United States for Saturday, 26 May 2018 "Family and Strangers God Loves" by Jen George - Isaiah 11:1-9.
Isaiah 11:1 But a branch will emerge from the trunk of Yishai,
a shoot will grow from his roots.
2 The Spirit of Adonai will rest on him,
the Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and power,
the Spirit of knowledge and fearing Adonai —
3 he will be inspired by fearing Adonai.
He will not judge by what his eyes see
or decide by what his ears hear,
4 but he will judge the impoverished justly;
he will decide fairly for the humble of the land.
He will strike the land with a rod from his mouth
and slay the wicked with a breath from his lips.
5 Justice will be the belt around his waist,
faithfulness the sash around his hips.
6 The wolf will live with the lamb;
the leopard lie down with the kid;
calf, young lion and fattened lamb together,
with a little child to lead them.
7 Cow and bear will feed together,
their young will lie down together,
and the lion will eat straw like the ox.
8 An infant will play on a cobra’s hole,
a toddler put his hand in a viper’s nest.
9 They will not hurt or destroy
anywhere on my holy mountain,
for the earth will be as full
of the knowledge of Adonai
as water covering the sea.

Sixteen-year-old Mao Takahashi was recording the horrific tsunami that swept away most of his neighborhood in Ishinomaki, Japan on March 11, 2011, when he heard cries for help. A man was trapped in the cold, rushing water, holding onto a telephone wire. Mao put down his phone and waded into danger himself to pull this stranger to safety.*
In extreme situations, people can forget to care about appearances, differences, and social status. Sometimes, we sacrifice our safety-or even our lives-to help people we do not know. But much of the time, we concern ourselves with family and friends we naturally accept.
God did not look at who we know or what we look like before He considered saving us-we all are unworthy of grace and miraculously covered by it. God saw people who needed help. Some were His people, and some were strangers. God sent His own Son, Jesus, wading into the perilous current of human history to save us, a disconnected, often warring people who did not know Him. In the fight for our eternal lives, Jesus gave up His own.

Hymn for Today: "Amazing Grace" by John Newton.
1. Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.
2. ’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed.
3. Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.
4. The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion be,
As long as life endures.
5. Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.
6. The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, who called me here below,
Will be forever mine.
7. When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’d first begun.

Thought for Today: “In the past Adonai-Tzva’ot said, ‘Administer true justice. Let everyone show mercy and compassion to his brother. Don’t oppress widows, orphans, foreigners or poor people. Don’t plot evil against each other.’(Zechariah 7:9-10)(Complete Jewish Bible).
Please pray: That many people in Uruguay will come to know Yeshua as their Messiah and receive the fullness of the Ruach HaKodesh.
