INCOMMON at Mission Church of the Nazarene in San Diego,, California, United States Sunday Evening, 29 July 2018

INCOMMON at Mission Church of the Nazarene in San Diego,, California, United States with Pastor Jeff Jimenez with Sunday Evening, 29 July 2018 Preacher is Reverend Paul Slater
How we age?
How we approach getting older aspects of life?
Pastor Paul began ministry as a youth pastor.
How we treat aging with others and ourselves. Wherever Paul went there were either riots or revivsls. Acts is like a travel journal.
Acts 17:After passing through Amphipolis and Apollonia, Sha’ul and Sila came to Thessalonica, where there was a synagogue. 2 According to his usual practice, Sha’ul went in; and on three Shabbats he gave them drashes from the Tanakh, 3 explaining and proving that the Messiah had to suffer and rise again from the dead, and that “this Yeshua whom I am proclaiming to you is the Messiah.” 4 Some of the Jews were persuaded and threw in their lot with Sha’ul and Sila, as did a great many of the Greek men who were “God-fearers,” and not a few of the leading women.
5 But the unbelieving Jews grew jealous; so they got together some vicious men from the riffraff hanging around in the market square, collected a crowd and started a riot in the city. They attacked Jason’s house, hoping to bring Sha’ul and Sila out to the mob. 6 But when they didn’t find them, they dragged Jason and some other brothers before the city authorities and shouted, “These men who have turned the whole world upside down have come here too! 7 And Jason has let them stay in his home! All of them are defying the decrees of the Emperor; because they assert that there is another king, Yeshua!” 8 Their words threw the crowd and the authorities into a turmoil, 9 so that only after Jason and the others had posted bond did they let them go. 10 But as soon as night fell, the brothers sent Sha’ul and Sila off to Berea.
Acts 20:22 “And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Yerushalayim. I don’t know what will happen to me there, 23 other than that in every city the Ruach HaKodesh keeps warning me that imprisonment and persecution await me. 24 But I consider my own life of no importance to me whatsoever, as long as I can finish the course ahead of me, the task I received from the Lord Yeshua — to declare in depth the Good News of God’s love and kindness.

Acts 21:15 So at the end of our stay, we packed and went up to Yerushalayim; 16 and with us went some of the talmidim from Caesarea. They brought us to the home of the man with whom we were to stay, Mnason from Cyprus, who had been a talmidsince the early days. (Complete Jewish Bible).
The Book of Acts was on how Paul dealt with aging.
What does it mean early or ancient disciple?
What is your claim to fame? Is it possible to be famed for being a long time disciple of Jesus? A healthy church needs to have healthy relationship between young and old people to grow together in being disciples of Jesus.
How did an older person deal with their tough times that may help me in my growth?
The same is the call to bring people with impairments and their families into active participation of the church and more.
Leasrning to finish the race of life, especially with Jesus, with Joy rather than grumbling.
Mnason in Acts was an old experienced disciple of Jesus who would be able to give encouragement to tge Apostle Paul.
Struggles are ways to strengthen our faith and may encourage others who may be younger than you.
In the Spiritual realm, am I willing to lesrn new things about Jesus.
Could it be the case that Mnason suffered from Paul/Saul before he became a Christian and persecuted to death the Chtistians.
How did Mnason learn to forgive Paul/Saul if he was hurt by him before Paul became a Christian?
How have each of us dealt with the concept of death and dying? Learn to deal with this in a positive way in being able to talk with others about this.
The story of Paul's brother, Steve, in dealing with his upcoming death.
God always has someone when we get down or hurt to be able to learn from them how they dealt with in a God way.
Prayer. Music. Benediction. Sending forth with responding to God.
