Kansas City, Missouri, United States - The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection Downtown enote from Reverend Scott Chrostek for Friday, 28 March 2014
Greetings RezDowntowners,
Good Friday Morning!  It is a beautiful day in the city and I’m grateful for the opportunity to write you.  I hope each of you will have the opportunity to live fully into this day in a way that gives glory to God.  Jesus reassures us that, ‘No one after lighting a lamp puts it under a bushel basket, but instead places it on a lampstand and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.’  My hope is that you might shine with the light of Christ and give glory to God by the way live this day and every day.  This weekend we will continue our journey into the Gospel of the Nobodies by focusing on Jesus’ heart for raising up women into positions of leadership, prominence and voice.  It is going to be a powerful weekend and a great opportunity to invite friends to join you in downtown Kansas City for an encounter with God.  I hope you will take time to invite your friends and neighbors!
Also, I wanted to share with you an article that was published in this week’s Ink Magazine.  The article focused on the role of faith communities in ministering to millennials, and we were included as a part of the story, they took pictures of some of our work out in the community. (If you haven’t read this story yet, here is a link.)  I share this with you as a way of reminding you of the calling God has placed on our lives, and that’s simply the calling to ‘go and make disciples of all nations.’  I understand this calling to be my mission.  I am called to live a life that invites others to join me in the work of building Christian communities.  My hope is that this calling will be a part of your mission as well.  I am so thankful for you and for this community that seeks to live fully into the calling God has for us in visible and generous ways. Over the next few weeks we’ll be worshiping, serving and studying in ways that will ultimately lead us to the Resurrection and Easter life.  I hope you are getting as excited as I am for what God has in store!
