Blue Springs, Missouri, United States - The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection Blue Springs eNote with Pastor Penny Ellwood for Friday, 5 September 2014
Take a look at our upcoming events/activites below
Hello Resurrection Blue Springs Family and Friends,
Friday has come back around quickly this week with the short week. Labor day always signals the beginning of a new season with school starting and summer vacations ending.  We've seen a rise in attendance and many new faces over the last couple of weeks. The growth we've continued to experience at our campus is very exciting and we're beginning to feel or anticipate the pinch of space challenges. In an effort to improve our current missions and ministry and consider how to best serve our community, we need to clarify our vision as a campus and hone our work so that we continue to reach new people in order to offer the life changing power of God to change lives and transform our community.
As we make our plans for the next five-ten years, we'd like to have your input on what's working well and where we need to focus our attention going forward.  We're asking you to participate in a general but all encompassing survey to help us clarify next steps. Our campus advisory team and staff have worked together to create a 32 question survey for our members and friends to fill out.   The questions are general but all encompassing and we plan to share the results when we've finished.  The survey will take you 10 minutes or less to complete.  Click on this link to complete the survey.  We'd love to have every adult and youth in your household complete it! We appreciate your valuable input!!
This Sunday in worship we'll conclude our sermon series on The Power of Words.  The sermon title is "In the Beginning was the Word." We'll unpack the meaning of the Third Commandment, talk about the effect of our negative self-talk and then turn to the powerful words God speaks to us.  We will also be celebrating holy communion together.  Then, on Sunday evening our RezLife youth program will begin a new year.  The youth will be starting the year with the Alpha Youth course.  This course provides a way for our youth to come together and learn what Christianity is all about. It's informal and relaxed so anyone can drop their defenses and ask their questions. No question about life or God is seen as too simple or too hostile. Much like our adult Alpha course, it's about exploration and discovery. Please be in prayer for our volunteer leaders as we kick off our new year! Our 2.0 Young Adults will also gather at 6 pm for worship, and fellowship.  It's a full day!
Also beginning this week is our new Building Better Moms program. Moms from birth to twenty-something will have an opportunity to gather every 3 weeks on Tuesday evenings to build a network of friends seeking to be better moms.  There will be special guests offering all kinds of parenting advice and encouragement.  We still have a few spaces available.  See the details below.
Listed below, you'll see a host of new classes and opportunities to help you seek a deeper connection with God and others who also want to learn and grow. Make sure you take a moment to check out all the class offerings and then think about who you might extend an invitation to join you in participating in one of these classes.

The evening will start with a time of fellowship, followed by a short worship with our youth praise team and then the Alpha lesson and small group discussion.  Pizza is available for $1 a slice.
