Then count yourselves most blessed!” 7-10 When John’s disciples left to report, Jesus started talking to the crowd about John. “What did you expect when you went out to see him in the wild? A weekend camper? Hardly. What then? A sheik in
silk pajamas? Not in the wilderness, not by a long shot. What then? A prophet? That’s right, a prophet! Probably the best prophet you’llever hear. He is the prophet that Malachi announced when he wrote,
‘I’m sending my prophet ahead of you, to make the road smooth for
you.’ 11-14 “Let me tell you what’s going on here: No one in history
surpasses John the Baptizer; but in the kingdom he prepared you for,the lowliest person is ahead of him. For a long time now people havetried to force themselves into God’s kingdom. But if you read the
books of the Prophets and God’s Law closely, you will see them
culminate in John, teaming up with him in preparing the way for the Messiah of the kingdom. Looked at in this way, John is the ‘Elijah’ you’ve all been expecting to arrive and introduce the Messiah. 15 “Are you listening to me? Really listening? 16-19 “How can I account for this generation? The people have been
like spoiled children whining to their parents, ‘We wanted to skip
rope, and you were always too tired; we wanted to talk, but you werealways too busy.’ John came fasting and they called him crazy. I
came feasting and they called me a lush, a friend of the riffraff.
Opinion polls don’t count for much, do they? The proof of the

strutting, you are going to end up in the abyss. If the people of
Sodom had had your chances, the city would still be around. At
Judgment Day they’ll get off easy compared to you.” 25-26 Abruptly Jesus broke into prayer: “Thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth. You’ve concealed your ways from sophisticates and know-it-alls, but spelled them out clearly to ordinary people. Yes, Father, that’s the way you like to work.” 27 Jesus resumed talking to the people, but now tenderly. “The
Father has given me all these things to do and say. This is a uniqueFather-Son operation, coming out of Father and Son intimacies and
knowledge. No one knows the Son the way the Father does, nor the
Father the way the Son does. But I’m not keeping it to myself; I’m
ready to go over it line by line with anyone willing to listen. 28-30 “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it.
Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or
ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live
freely and lightly.” Are you stressed out, under pressure, under any kind of burden? Are you carrying any type of hindrance, a sin you have been struggling
with, a physical pain, problems with your family, or even some
sort of grief? Jesus has theanswer to your problems. He says, “Come to Me.” Remember you are in the Lord’s protective care and you can
rest in His finished work; there is no need to sweat the small
stuff.
PRACTICAL PRINCIPLES 1. Those who are weary, come to Him. Maybe you work too hard and areutterly exhausted; the answer to that is to pass your weight on to
God. 2. What will happen when you come to Him? God will not only take
your load, but He will fill you with rest. He will make you revived and refreshed. All of your problems will be in the hands of the
Lord. 3. Once you come to Him, what is next? Jesus wants the steering
wheel of your life. He yearns for you to hand it over and give Him
complete control. 4. Just come to Him. Regardless of where you are—if you are hurting,worried, or believe there is nowhere else to go—the only fulfilling resolution is to come to Jesus. RELEVANT REMINDERS • Remember Jesus’ sacrifice and how He shed His blood for every sin we have ever committed. God’s righteous demands were met by Christ. As children of the Lord, we must find rest in the finished work accomplished on the cross. • We are to be free from any bondage, legalism, or vice that could weigh us down. Our sins have been forgiven and the righteousness of Christ has been placed into our account. • We have a backstage pass to the Father through Jesus Christ. We
are capable of calling on Him at any time; He is waiting to hear
from us. • Everything is yoked to something or someone—whether it is people, ideas, relationships, or even sin. Instead of being yoked to a
person or an object, be yoked to Jesus. APPLICABLE ACTIONS Jesus never said, “Learn of Me first.” Rather He just says, “Come to Me.” Modern culture tells you that in order to find rest, you must seek it in materials, pleasures, or religions. If you chase those,
the end result will be a life of continual emptiness. He is the only One who can fulfill your every need. God doesn’t expect you to make the changes in your life first; He just wants you to come to Him.

Come and Find Rest — II

1-2 That set off a terrific persecution of the church in Jerusalem. The believers were all scattered throughout Judea and Samaria. All, that is, but the apostles. Good and brave men buried Stephen, giving him a solemn funeral—not many dry eyes that day!
3-8 And Saul just went wild, devastating the church, entering house after house after house, dragging men and women off to jail. Forced to leave home base, the followers of Jesus all became missionaries. Wherever they were scattered, they preached the Message about Jesus. Going down to a Samaritan city, Philip proclaimed the Message of the Messiah. When the people heard what he had to say and saw the miracles, the clear signs of God’s action, they hung on his every word. Many who could neither stand nor walk were healed that day. The evil spirits protested loudly as they were sent on their way. And what joy in the city!

9-11 Previous to Philip’s arrival, a certain Simon had practiced magic in the city, posing as a famous man and dazzling all the Samaritans with his wizardry. He had them all, from little children to old men, eating out of his hand. They all thought he had supernatural powers, and called him “the Great Wizard.” He had been around a long time and everyone was more or less in awe of him.
12-13 But when Philip came to town announcing the news of God’s kingdom and proclaiming the name of Jesus Christ, they forgot Simon and were baptized, becoming believers right and left! Even Simon himself believed and was baptized. From that moment he was like Philip’s shadow, so fascinated with all the God-signs and miracles that he wouldn’t leave Philip’s side.
14-17 When the apostles in Jerusalem received the report that Samaria had accepted God’s Message, they sent Peter and John down to pray for them to receive the Holy Spirit. Up to this point they had only been baptized in the name of the Master Jesus; the Holy Spirit hadn’t yet fallen on them. Then the apostles laid their hands on them and they did receive the Holy Spirit.
18-19 When Simon saw that the apostles by merely laying on hands conferred the Spirit, he pulled out his money, excited, and said, “Sell me your secret! Show me how you did that! How much do you want? Name your price!”
20-23 Peter said, “To hell with your money! And you along with it. Why, that’s unthinkable—trying to buy God’s gift! You’ll never be part of what God is doing by striking bargains and offering bribes. Change your ways—and now! Ask the Master to forgive you for trying to use God to make money. I can see this is an old habit with you; you reek with money-lust.”
24 “Oh!” said Simon, “pray for me! Pray to the Master that nothing like that will ever happen to me!”
25 And with that, the apostles were on their way, continuing to witness and spread the Message of God’s salvation, preaching in every Samaritan town they passed through on their return to Jerusalem.
The Ethiopian Eunuch
26-28 Later God’s angel spoke to Philip: “At noon today I want you to walk over to that desolate road that goes from Jerusalem down to Gaza.” He got up and went. He met an Ethiopian eunuch coming down the road. The eunuch had been on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem and was returning to Ethiopia, where he was minister in charge of all the finances of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians. He was riding in a chariot and reading the prophet Isaiah.
29-30 The Spirit told Philip, “Climb into the chariot.” Running up alongside, Philip heard the eunuch reading Isaiah and asked, “Do you understand what you’re reading?”
31-33 He answered, “How can I without some help?” and invited Philip into the chariot with him. The passage he was reading was this:
As a sheep led to slaughter,
and quiet as a lamb being sheared,
He was silent, saying nothing.
He was mocked and put down, never got a fair trial.
But who now can count his kin
since he’s been taken from the earth?
34-35 The eunuch said, “Tell me, who is the prophet talking about: himself or some other?” Philip grabbed his chance. Using this passage as his text, he preached Jesus to him.
36-39 As they continued down the road, they came to a stream of water. The eunuch said, “Here’s water. Why can’t I be baptized?” He ordered the chariot to stop. They both went down to the water, and Philip baptized him on the spot. When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of God suddenly took Philip off, and that was the last the eunuch saw of him. But he didn’t mind. He had what he’d come for and went on down the road as happy as he could be.
40 Philip showed up in Azotus and continued north, preaching the Message in all the villages along that route until he arrived at Caesarea.
9: The Blinding of Saul
1-2 All this time Saul was breathing down the necks of the Master’s disciples, out for the kill. He went to the Chief Priest and got arrest warrants to take to the meeting places in Damascus so that if he found anyone there belonging to the Way, whether men or women, he could arrest them and bring them to Jerusalem.
3-4 He set off. When he got to the outskirts of Damascus, he was suddenly dazed by a blinding flash of light. As he fell to the ground, he heard a voice: “Saul, Saul, why are you out to get me?”
5-6 He said, “Who are you, Master?”
“I am Jesus, the One you’re hunting down. I want you to get up and enter the city. In the city you’ll be told what to do next.”
7-9 His companions stood there dumbstruck—they could hear the sound, but couldn’t see anyone—while Saul, picking himself up off the ground, found himself stone-blind. They had to take him by the hand and lead him into Damascus. He continued blind for three days. He ate nothing, drank nothing.
10 There was a disciple in Damascus by the name of Ananias. The Master spoke to him in a vision: “Ananias.”
“Yes, Master?” he answered.
11-12 “Get up and go over to Straight Avenue. Ask at the house of Judas for a man from Tarsus. His name is Saul. He’s there praying. He has just had a dream in which he saw a man named Ananias enter the house and lay hands on him so he could see again.”
13-14 Ananias protested, “Master, you can’t be serious. Everybody’s talking about this man and the terrible things he’s been doing, his reign of terror against your people in Jerusalem! And now he’s shown up here with papers from the Chief Priest that give him license to do the same to us.”
15-16 But the Master said, “Don’t argue. Go! I have picked him as my personal representative to non-Jews and kings and Jews. And now I’m about to show him what he’s in for—the hard suffering that goes with this job.”
17-19 So Ananias went and found the house, placed his hands on blind Saul, and said, “Brother Saul, the Master sent me, the same Jesus you saw on your way here. He sent me so you could see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” No sooner were the words out of his mouth than something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes—he could see again! He got to his feet, was baptized, and sat down with them to a hearty meal.
Plots Against Saul
19-21 Saul spent a few days getting acquainted with the Damascus disciples, but then went right to work, wasting no time, preaching in the meeting places that this Jesus was the Son of God. They were caught off guard by this and, not at all sure they could trust him, they kept saying, “Isn’t this the man who wreaked havoc in Jerusalem among the believers? And didn’t he come here to do the same thing—arrest us and drag us off to jail in Jerusalem for sentencing by the high priests?”
22 But their suspicions didn’t slow Saul down for even a minute. His momentum was up now and he plowed straight into the opposition, disarming the Damascus Jews and trying to show them that this Jesus was the Messiah.
23-25 After this had gone on quite a long time, some Jews conspired to kill him, but Saul got wind of it. They were watching the city gates around the clock so they could kill him. Then one night the disciples engineered his escape by lowering him over the wall in a basket.
26-27 Back in Jerusalem he tried to join the disciples, but they were all afraid of him. They didn’t trust him one bit. Then Barnabas took him under his wing. He introduced him to the apostles and stood up for him, told them how Saul had seen and spoken to the Master on the Damascus Road and how in Damascus itself he had laid his life on the line with his bold preaching in Jesus’ name.
28-30 After that he was accepted as one of them, going in and out of Jerusalem with no questions asked, uninhibited as he preached in the Master’s name. But then he ran afoul of a group called Hellenists—he had been engaged in a running argument with them—who plotted his murder. When his friends learned of the plot, they got him out of town, took him to Caesarea, and then shipped him off to Tarsus.
31 Things calmed down after that and the church had smooth sailing for a while. All over the country—Judea, Samaria, Galilee—the church grew. They were permeated with a deep sense of reverence for God. The Holy Spirit was with them, strengthening them. They prospered wonderfully.
Tabitha
32-35 Peter went off on a mission to visit all the churches. In the course of his travels he arrived in Lydda and met with the believers there. He came across a man—his name was Aeneas—who had been in bed eight years paralyzed. Peter said, “Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you. Get up and make your bed!” And he did it—jumped right out of bed. Everybody who lived in Lydda and Sharon saw him walking around and woke up to the fact that God was alive and active among them.
36-37 Down the road a way in Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha, “Gazelle” in our language. She was well-known for doing good and helping out. During the time Peter was in the area she became sick and died. Her friends prepared her body for burial and put her in a cool room.
38-40 Some of the disciples had heard that Peter was visiting in nearby Lydda and sent two men to ask if he would be so kind as to come over. Peter got right up and went with them. They took him into the room where Tabitha’s body was laid out. Her old friends, most of them widows, were in the room mourning. They showed Peter pieces of clothing the Gazelle had made while she was with them. Peter put the widows all out of the room. He knelt and prayed. Then he spoke directly to the body: “Tabitha, get up.”
40-41 She opened her eyes. When she saw Peter, she sat up. He took her hand and helped her up. Then he called in the believers and widows, and presented her to them alive.
42-43 When this became known all over Joppa, many put their trust in the Master. Peter stayed on a long time in Joppa as a guest of Simon the Tanner.
Do you know someone you simply can’t imagine ever becoming a Christian? Maybe they’ve thrown your attempts to share the gospel right back in your face. Maybe they mock you and ridicule the
things you believe in. Know this: no one is beyond the reach of God, and sometimes it’s the ones who seem the farthest away who are the closest.
Saul of Tarsus was such a man. He presided over the death of Stephen and received permission to go as far as Damascus, 140 miles from Jerusalem, to arrest Christians and imprison them. And as
coldhearted and bigoted as this member of the Sanhedrin was, his life was changed in an instant when he encountered God for the first time and became one of the Church’s greatest evangelists, the
man we know as the apostle Paul.
PRACTICAL PRINCIPLES
1. Paul was praying. One of the first things we see Paul doing after his conversion is praying (Acts 9:11). What a joy to be able to enter into close fellowship with God for the first time.
As Christians, we should do the same, praying regularly, interacting with Him, worshipping Him, seeking His forgiveness.
2. Paul was preaching. Once he had regained his sight and spent time with the disciples in Damascus, Paul went to the synagogue to proclaim his faith (Acts 9:20). He wasn’t content to keep his newfound freedom to himself; he had to tell the world. This should be part of our character as Christians.
3. Paul was suffering. It is no great surprise that once Paul was praying and preaching, his first trial as a Christian occurred (Acts 9:23). In fact, God Himself said in verse 16 that Paul would suffer
much for His name. And if it happened to Jesus and it happened to Paul, how much more should we expect to face trials and persecution for what we believe?
RELEVANT REMINDERS
Looking back at Acts 7, Stephen’s speech to the Sanhedrin didn’t appear to make much impact. But it’s not hard to consider the impact that it had on Saul, as he later gave his life to Christ. Perhaps
you feel like your attempts to share the gospel are falling on deaf ears. But the Bible tells us that His Word does not return void (Isaiah 55:11), and its true impact may not be felt until later.
APPLICABLE ACTIONS
During his conversion experience, Paul asked two questions of God: “Who are You, Lord?” (Acts 9:5) and “Lord, what do You want me to do?” (Acts 9:6) And in effect, Paul spent the rest of his
earthly life discovering the answer to that second question. May we have that same attitude in our lives as God reveals His will for our lives.

Evangelism, Jesus Style — I
John 4: The Woman at the Well
1-3 Jesus realized that the Pharisees were keeping count of the baptisms that he and John performed (although his disciples, not Jesus, did the actual baptizing). They had posted the score that Jesus was ahead, turning him and John into rivals in the eyes of the people. So Jesus left the Judean countryside and went back to Galilee.
4-6 To get there, he had to pass through Samaria. He came into Sychar, a Samaritan village that bordered the field Jacob had given his son Joseph. Jacob’s well was still there. Jesus, worn out by the trip, sat down at the well. It was noon.
7-8 A woman, a Samaritan, came to draw water. Jesus said, “Would you give me a drink of water?” (His disciples had gone to the village to buy food for lunch.)
9 The Samaritan woman, taken aback, asked, “How come you, a Jew, are asking me, a Samaritan woman, for a drink?” (Jews in those days wouldn’t be caught dead talking to Samaritans.)
10 Jesus answered, “If you knew the generosity of God and who I am, you would be asking me for a drink, and I would give you fresh, living water.”
11-12 The woman said, “Sir, you don’t even have a bucket to draw with, and this well is deep. So how are you going to get this ‘living water’? Are you a better man than our ancestor Jacob, who dug this well and drank from it, he and his sons and livestock, and passed it down to us?”
13-14 Jesus said, “Everyone who drinks this water will get thirsty again and again. Anyone who drinks the water I give will never thirst—not ever. The water I give will be an artesian spring within, gushing fountains of endless life.”
15 The woman said, “Sir, give me this water so I won’t ever get thirsty, won’t ever have to come back to this well again!”
16 He said, “Go call your husband and then come back.”
17-18 “I have no husband,” she said.
“That’s nicely put: ‘I have no husband.’ You’ve had five husbands, and the man you’re living with now isn’t even your husband. You spoke the truth there, sure enough.”
19-20 “Oh, so you’re a prophet! Well, tell me this: Our ancestors worshiped God at this mountain, but you Jews insist that Jerusalem is the only place for worship, right?”
21-23 “Believe me, woman, the time is coming when you Samaritans will worship the Father neither here at this mountain nor there in Jerusalem. You worship guessing in the dark; we Jews worship in the clear light of day. God’s way of salvation is made available through the Jews. But the time is coming—it has, in fact, come—when what you’re called will not matter and where you go to worship will not matter.
23-24 “It’s who you are and the way you live that count before God. Your worship must engage your spirit in the pursuit of truth. That’s the kind of people the Father is out looking for: those who are simply and honestly themselves before him in their worship. God is sheer being itself—Spirit. Those who worship him must do it out of their very being, their spirits, their true selves, in adoration.”
25 The woman said, “I don’t know about that. I do know that the Messiah is coming. When he arrives, we’ll get the whole story.”
26 “I am he,” said Jesus. “You don’t have to wait any longer or look any further.”
27 Just then his disciples came back. They were shocked. They couldn’t believe he was talking with that kind of a woman. No one said what they were all thinking, but their faces showed it.
28-30 The woman took the hint and left. In her confusion she left her water pot. Back in the village she told the people, “Come see a man who knew all about the things I did, who knows me inside and out. Do you think this could be the Messiah?” And they went out to see for themselves.
It’s Harvest Time
31 In the meantime, the disciples pressed him, “Rabbi, eat. Aren’t you going to eat?”
32 He told them, “I have food to eat you know nothing about.”
33 The disciples were puzzled. “Who could have brought him food?”
34-35 Jesus said, “The food that keeps me going is that I do the will of the One who sent me, finishing the work he started. As you look around right now, wouldn’t you say that in about four months it will be time to harvest? Well, I’m telling you to open your eyes and take a good look at what’s right in front of you. These Samaritan fields are ripe. It’s harvest time!
36-38 “The Harvester isn’t waiting. He’s taking his pay, gathering in this grain that’s ripe for eternal life. Now the Sower is arm in arm with the Harvester, triumphant. That’s the truth of the saying, ‘This one sows, that one harvests.’ I sent you to harvest a field you never worked. Without lifting a finger, you have walked in on a field worked long and hard by others.”
39-42 Many of the Samaritans from that village committed themselves to him because of the woman’s witness: “He knew all about the things I did. He knows me inside and out!” They asked him to stay on, so Jesus stayed two days. A lot more people entrusted their lives to him when they heard what he had to say. They said to the woman, “We’re no longer taking this on your say-so. We’ve heard it for ourselves and know it for sure. He’s the Savior of the world!”
43-45 After the two days he left for Galilee. Now, Jesus knew well from experience that a prophet is not respected in the place where he grew up. So when he arrived in Galilee, the Galileans welcomed him, but only because they were impressed with what he had done in Jerusalem during the Passover Feast, not that they really had a clue about who he was or what he was up to.
46-48 Now he was back in Cana of Galilee, the place where he made the water into wine. Meanwhile in Capernaum, there was a certain official from the king’s court whose son was sick. When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went and asked that he come down and heal his son, who was on the brink of death. Jesus put him off: “Unless you people are dazzled by a miracle, you refuse to believe.”
49 But the court official wouldn’t be put off. “Come down! It’s life or death for my son.”
50-51 Jesus simply replied, “Go home. Your son lives.”
The man believed the bare word Jesus spoke and headed home. On his way back, his servants intercepted him and announced, “Your son lives!”
52-53 He asked them what time he began to get better. They said, “The fever broke yesterday afternoon at one o’clock.” The father knew that that was the very moment Jesus had said, “Your son lives.”
53-54 That clinched it. Not only he but his entire household believed. This was now the second sign Jesus gave after having come from Judea into Galilee.

EVANGELISM, JESUS STYLE
John 4: The Woman at the Well
1-3 Jesus realized that the Pharisees were keeping count of the baptisms that he and John performed (although his disciples, not Jesus, did the actual baptizing). They had posted the score that Jesus was ahead, turning him and John into rivals in the eyes of the people. So Jesus left the Judean countryside and went back to Galilee.
4-6 To get there, he had to pass through Samaria. He came into Sychar, a Samaritan village that bordered the field Jacob had given his son Joseph. Jacob’s well was still there. Jesus, worn out by the trip, sat down at the well. It was noon.
7-8 A woman, a Samaritan, came to draw water. Jesus said, “Would you give me a drink of water?” (His disciples had gone to the village to buy food for lunch.)
9 The Samaritan woman, taken aback, asked, “How come you, a Jew, are asking me, a Samaritan woman, for a drink?” (Jews in those days wouldn’t be caught dead talking to Samaritans.)
10 Jesus answered, “If you knew the generosity of God and who I am, you would be asking me for a drink, and I would give you fresh, living water.”
11-12 The woman said, “Sir, you don’t even have a bucket to draw with, and this well is deep. So how are you going to get this ‘living water’? Are you a better man than our ancestor Jacob, who dug this well and drank from it, he and his sons and livestock, and passed it down to us?”
13-14 Jesus said, “Everyone who drinks this water will get thirsty again and again. Anyone who drinks the water I give will never thirst—not ever. The water I give will be an artesian spring within, gushing fountains of endless life.”
15 The woman said, “Sir, give me this water so I won’t ever get thirsty, won’t ever have to come back to this well again!”
16 He said, “Go call your husband and then come back.”

When you bring up the word evangelism it makes a lot of people nervous. Your mouth goes dry and you are afraid to do it. The number-one fear that most Americans have above every other fear is public speaking. Studies show that the fear of public speaking is greater than the fear of death. The thought of talking to a complete stranger about God freaks us out.
There was no greater communicator than Jesus Christ. He gave us a template to use when sharing our faith with others. Here in John 4, we are in part two of a three part series on the topic of sharing our faith with others, hence the title “Evangelism, Jesus Style.”
To do evangelism Jesus style, you will have to do the following:
PRACTICAL PRINCIPLES
1. You have to start with a burden. It starts with a concern for lost people. Verse 4 says, “He needed to go through Samaria” (NKJV). No orthodox Jew would ever go through Samaria for any reason, but Jesus needed to go there because there was a woman in need, and He cared about her.
2. We need to use tact. Jesus, the Master Evangelist, used tact, which is “skill and grace in dealing with others” and is something that may Christians seriously lack. Say the right thing, at the right time, in the right way. Be tactful!
3. We must adapt to the situation. Sometimes before a person can appreciate the Good News, they need to know the bad news. The bad news is that they are a sinner in need of a Savior. Acts 3:19 says, “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out” (NKJV).
4. You won’t deal with any two people exactly the same way. There is not a one-size-fits-all approach to evangelism. Everyone is different. Jesus engaged people in different ways, with the same result: people believed in Him.
5. We stay focused. The Samaritan woman gets uncomfortable, and is trying to get Jesus off of the topic when she says in John 4:20, “Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where one ought to worship.” When you evangelize, always bring it back to the main topic.
RELEVANT REMINDERS
• Sharing the gospel is a dialogue, not a monologue. Start the conversation by listening. This is about winning souls.
• When you evangelize, use your testimony, but don’t glorify or exaggerate your past. Don’t talk about what you gave up; talk about what God gave up for you.
• Your story is merely a bridge to the greatest story ever told: the story of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. His death, His life, His resurrection—that’s the message.
• You know more than you think you know. You know John 3:16; that’s a beginning. You are armed and dangerous.
APPLICABLE ACTIONS
Evangelism is not an option for a follower of Jesus Christ. You and I are commanded by the Lord Himself to go into all of the world and preach the gospel. It was never a mere suggestion of Jesus that we, His followers, go and make disciples of all nations. It was, and is, His command. If we are His disciples then we are commanded to make disciples of others. If we are not making disciples of others, then we are not being the disciples that He wants us to be.
