"For we walk by faith, not by sight."(2 Corinthians 5:7 (NIV))

PRAISES:
Church Growth

During the Nazarene 2012-2013 assembly year, 80% of the membership growth came from 7 of the 140 reporting world areas – Bangladesh, Benin, Brazil, Guatemala, India, Mexico, and Mozambique. We praise God for the growth in these world areas. And, while we know that God does not work the same way in every location or in every time period, we also know that He is at work around the world, day in and day out, to bring about His will in our lives…another reason to give praise.
Rich Visa

During the course of their work in any given country, missionaries often have to apply again and again for a visa that allows them to stay in the country. We praise the Lord that missionaries Dwight and Carolyn Rich have been granted a resident visa for Ecuador. The Richs have worked as Nazarene missionaries in Ecuador since 1985, and the resident visa is a permanent one. Thank the Lord that they will no longer have to go through the visa reapplying process.
PRAY FOR:
GLOBAL MINISTRY REQUESTS
Medical Missionary Work

Improvising in medical missionary work is a reality faced by missionary doctors worldwide, and it is no different at Kudjip Nazarene Hospital. Click here to read an article by Erin Meier about what happens when crucial supplies run out and patient’s needs remain. Pray for the team at Kudjip in Papua New Guinea as they continue to be the tangible hands and feet of Christ to those in need.
Two New Families

Two new families arrived on the Asia-Pacific Region recently to join in the harvest in two areas where few have heard the Good News. Please lift up these couples and their children as they step out into the great adventure of partnering with the Father in mission in cultures very different from their own.
Door of Opportunity

A door of opportunity is open in South Asia for Nazarene JESUS Film teams. In the next eight weeks, JESUS Film Harvest Partners (JFHP) has opportunity to deliver 55 sets of equipment to waiting teams of nationals. Ask the Lord to supply all that is needed so that the delivery of this equipment becomes a reality. To read more about the specific needs related to this request and about other prayer needs of JFHP, visit jfhp.org/prayer.
Village Bandidos

“…Some people in the Southern Philippines villages are bandidos (bandits),” says Nazarene radio producer Dionisio Talon. “But, they listen to our radio programs and say they are blessed. Even one of the lady barangay officials (an elected barrio leader) listens. Because they are interested in our programs, we gave them a transistor radio and will continue face-to-face meetings.” Pray for Pastor Talon and the other Nazarene broadcasters in the Philippines, and around the world, as they produce and air messages of hope and truth within their communities.
From the NAF

Please pray for these requests from the North Andean Field (NAF) in South America (the NAF Field is the countries of Colombia, Venezuela, and Ecuador):
  • We praise the Lord that the Jimenez family got their missionary visas for Ecuador this week. They are planning to arrive in Ecuador on September 30. Pray for the family— Esdras, Scarlet, Joshua, and Sara—as they say goodbye in Costa Rica, pack, and travel to Quito.
  • We request prayer for Rev. David Lemache in his new role as Seminary President and for his wife Lucy as she is one week away from the cesarean section to deliver their second child.
  • Please pray for the wife of Pastor Eduardo Quiroz in Guayaquil, Ecuador who is in critical condition and is waiting to have an operation to drain excess liquid off her lungs. The hand of the Lord has been upon her and during her previous radiation treatments and we would ask for continued pray for her and her family during this time. Pastor Eduardo is a pastor on the Coast District.

Missionary Prayer Focus
Please pray for the following requests sent in from missionaries who are part of the September prayer focuses:

Ministry related - Please pray:

  • That God would call the Bulgarian Church of the Nazarene to prayer and fasting and for us to be unified under Christ.
  • That God would give members and visitors to our churches a hunger for discipleship.
  • That we would see spiritual growth through prayer, fasting, and discipleship and that would lead to the growth of churches and places where we have missions.
  • That God would direct our church planting efforts in the city of Varna (a new church plant) that will be spearheaded by the Razgrad church.
  • That God would help Dick and Cindy Phelps (volunteers in Varna for the church plant) to settle well and quickly.
  • That God would continue to guide the process of preparing to build the Sofia First Church of the Nazarene.
  • That God would bless the new compassionate ministries initiatives in the Montana church.

  • That our kids would get off to a good start as the school year begins.

BEREAVEMENT
Family of Lois Pass

Retired missionary, Lois Pass (88), passed away on September 17 at the Glenhaven Retirement Centre in South Africa. Lois served as a missionary in South Africa for 24 years. A memorial service will be held for her on Friday, September 26 at the Retirement Center.
Family of Nery Maria Herazo

Thank you for your prayers in recent weeks for Nery Maria Herazo. She passed away on September 16 after suffering from pulmonary cancer. Nery was the mother of missionary José David Acosta who serves in Peru. While José David was able to visit with his mom before she died, due to visa and flight issues, he could not return home to Venezuela for his mother's burial. Please keep him and his family in your prayers during this difficult time.
Family of Rodrigo Badilla

Rodrigo Badilla was killed in a car accident in the early morning hours of September 18. Rodrigo was the son of Juan Badilla who serves as the superintendent of Chile's Bio Bio District. Please pray for the Badilla family during the shock, pain, and grief of Roger's loss.
Thank you for praying.
"You find no difficulty in trusting the Lord with the management of the universe
and all the outward creation, and can your case be any more complex or difficult
than these, that you need to be anxious or troubled about His management of it?"(
Hannah Whitall Smith (1832-1911), American lay speaker and author)
