Trinity United Methodist Church Daily Scripture Email Devotion for Friday, 12 September 2014 "Rest"
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." (Matt. 11: 28 - 30).
There are other passages where Jesus challenges us, convicts us, overwhelms us, and next week we'll look at a couple of those, but today, Jesus invites us to rest; well, really, he invites us to come to him, and in that act, He gives us rest, and then it's ongoing: be yoked with Him, keep learning from Him and we will find a deep, inner rest and peace, and an abiding connection to the One and only One who can provide that kind of rest. Amen.
