In the Philippines, the EXPOSED Campaign came at just the right time. 10 billion Php (US$223million) have disappeared from government funds and more scandals have come to light since then. We rallied to pray and organised integrity seminars.
Action by the G20 in Brisbane next month will help all leaders to know that corruption is not acceptable, that greed is unethical.
In four weeks, the world’s leaders will discuss new rules on tax secrecy and profit shifting. Help them know how vital these decisions are for all of us – especially in countries like the Philippines. Don’t miss this unique opportunity - can you help us get hundreds more signatures on the Global Call in the next 4 weeks? Please ask all your friends, family and colleagues by email, Facebook or Twitter. We’ll be presenting them + the selfies + the Open Letter to Joe Hockey the Australian Treasurer and your action is important.
Ordinary citizens are increasingly calling on their governments to solve global problems together. And corruption is a huge problem that needs united action.
The benefits will be felt not just in the G20 but in all nations, especially in places rich in natural resources.
If we can break the hold of corruption poor countries will rely less on aid and can spend tax revenue on new schools, hospitals and infrastructure for trade.
With hope Bishop Efraim M. Tendero, D.D, D.L. National Director, Philippine Council of Evangelical Churches
