Trinity United Methodist Church Daily Scripture Email Devotion for Thursday, 2 October 2014 "Persistent, Pesky Prayer"

Trinity United Methodist Church Daily Scripture Email Devotion for Thursday, 2 October 2014 "Persistent, Pesky Prayer"
And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to the judge wit the plea, "Grant me justice against my adversary." (Luke 18:3)
The story of the persistent widow who just wouldn't stop pestering the judge of her town for justice, is introduced by Jesus with these words:  that his disciples "should always pray and not give up."
To magnify his point, Jesus indicated that the judge, in this case "neither feared God nor cared about people."  His point is this:  How much more will our gracious God hear our persistent prayers, so keep on keeping on, keep on praying.
That's what I'm doing with great intensity these days, and I sense many of you are too.  As a friend noted to me recently:  "Living in chaos brings opportunity for reinvestment, reevaluation and revival."  And at the heart of that will be prayer.  I'm banking on it! You too?
