This week (Nov 7- Nov 14)...
#breakaway2014
The KC District's annual youth event, Breakaway, will be held this evening! This is an all-night event of friends and fun for all teens in grades 7-12, beginning at 8pm tonight. This year, First Church will be hosting this event, which will kick off with a worship service featuring speaker, Billy Lee and the band, Don't Know Dorothy. After service, the group will head to Paradise Park, CoCo Key Water Resort, and breakfast together. Teens will be back at the church by 6am on Saturday morning. The cost for this event is $30. Please contact Pastor Roland with any questions.
Surviving the Holidays
The death of a loved one can make the holidays particularly difficult. Our GriefShare ministry will be hosting a "Surviving the Holidays" seminar, with information for those grieving and ideas to help minimize the pain and distress during the holiday season. The seminar will take place on Saturday, November 8 at 9:45am. Please register through the church office by Thursday, November 6.
If you are not currently in a season of grieving, please be prayerful about who you may know (friends, family members, coworkers) who may benefit from this care. This seminar is a wonderful outreach to those around us who are hurting.

Special Guests: Sunday Night
On Sunday evening, we will gather in the Westside Room at 6pm for a special time of worship and fellowship together with John & Abigail Carr, students at Nazarene Theological Seminary who will be traveling to Northern Ireland next year to serve as missionaries with the Seminary's "365M" program. This year-long global mission experience combines graduate level studies with hands-on experience in cross-cultural settings around the globe.
A love offering will be taken at the service to help with the cost of their trip.
Ornaments for Orphans
Show the love of Christ to a child in foster care this Christmas by providing gifts for them. Please grab a tag from the Christmas tree in the foyer, purchase the suggested gift (or something similar) and place it under the tree in the foyer (unwrapped, with the suggestion tag attached) before December 7.
2015 Work & Witness
Our Work and Witness Trip to Big Lake, Alaska is scheduled for
July 6 - 16, 2015.  Join Pastor Brad and Dawn Estep as the team works on renovations and improvements at Camp Maranatha. We will be putting together a team of people with varied skills and abilities and are particularly interested in including those who have never had an opportunity to participate in Work and Witness before. The cost for this trip will be approximately $1300.
Please see Jo Ann Blevins at the Compassion table in the Foyer this Sunday to pick up an application.
Next week (Nov 14 - Nov 21)...
