The Great Plains Conference of the United Methodist church is organizing a prayer service as a show of support for Dr. Martin Salia, the most recent person diagnosed with Ebola to be treated at the Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. The prayer service will be held Sunday, November 16, at 7:00 p.m. at Hanscom Park United Methodist Church, 4444 Frances St., in Omaha.
Dr. Salia has been chief medical officer and surgeon at Kissy United Methodist Hospital outside Freetown, Sierra Leone. This hospital is known as a mission hospital because it serves one of the poorest neighborhoods in Freetown. In addition to the prayer service, the Great Plains Conference has established a fund to receive gifts toward the cost of his transportation to Omaha and related medical costs not covered by other sources. Contributions can be made through any United Methodist Church, or sent directly to: Great Plains Conference Office, 4201 SW 15th, P. O. Box 4187, Topeka, KS 66604. Please put "Dr. Salia fund" on the memo line. | ||||||||
