Erlene Marcella Dillon, 94, widow of a clergy member of the Great Plains Annual Conference of Columbus, KS, passed from this life on December 25, 2014 at the Medicalodge of Columbus. Erlene was born on May 22, 1920 to the union of Verle and Emma (Cain) Moorhead in Casey, IL. She graduated high school, and attended Olivet Nazarene College. She married F. Vernon Dillon on June 2, 1945 in Pasadena, CA. He preceded her in death on November 18, 2008. She spent her life as a homemaker, and loved being with family. She enjoyed babysitting the neighborhood kids, as well as reading and playing piano. She attended First United Methodist Church of Columbus, as well as the Church of the Nazarene of Columbus. She was preceded in death by her husband the Rev. Vernon Dillon; father, Verle Moorhead; mother, Emma Moorhead-Shrum; step-father, Bill Shrum; sister, Joyce Swenson; and one daughter, Barbara Jean Ridenour. Survivors include one son, Gregory Lynn Dillon of Manhattan, KS; one daughter, Patricia “Trish” Moore (husband, David); 13 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren. The funeral service was at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church of Columbus. Rev. Michael Roberts officiated. Interment is in Park Cemetery, Columbus.
