Take a quick look at upcoming events/activites below:
Get Crafty for a Cause!
Greetings Resurrection Blue Springs,
It's another week has flown by and a good one at that!  We've had lots of activity at Rez Blue Springs.   It started last Sunday afternoon as we held our Pizza With the Pastor and welcomed 10 adults and 5 children to the life of our church.  Here is the list of our newest members:
Patrick & Stacy Arnold (Jacob, Matthew, Daniel), Amy Craig, Iva Magers, Marilyn McQueen, Joy Robinson, Bob & Michelle Sloop (Ali, Jason), Sharon Tate and Debra Weilbacher.
These folks have taken a big step by committing to this faith community and affirming their faith in God and I am so excited to welcome them into our fold.  At the same time our event was going, our scout troop was holding a ceremony to honor their newest Eagle scout.  I want to congratulate Scout Dylan Hassler for this accomplishment.  It takes a lot of effort and hard work.
As the week commenced, Monday night our scouts fill the classrooms, Tuesday night Building Better Moms gathered, Wednesday our team met to fill backpacks.  Wednesday we also kicked off a new community group with the start of "Creating Covenant," the first 8 week session of a new in-depth Bible Study.  This week as a part of our assignment for the next class we have been reading the stories in Genesis of our origin and relationship to God.  I am reminded as I read these stories that comunity was conceived by God in terms of a family.  I believe we are building and strengthening all sorts of family relationships in our work and time together as a community.
On that note, I had a chance to join the Parenting class this week as our participants learned about how to speak their children's love languages.  We had some great discussion around the tables about the importance of affirming words and positive touch.   It brought back memories of those days when I was in the trenches with my own young children.  Last night, I stopped by and saw our youngest crew and parents taking part in the MiniMusic class.  The kids were having some great fun with drumsticks.  It could be some of our next worship leaders in the making!
If you haven’t been a part of a mid-week community group, I want to invite you consider joining one of our upcoming studies so that you might experience more of the family life we're working to create here at Rez Blue Springs.
This weekend we’ll conclude our sermon series on Half-Truths.  We will be challenging the expression, “Love the Sinner, Hate the Sin.”  It will be an important message.  We'll also recognize our new members, congratulate our 90-100% attenders, have some great music and share in holy communion together.  If you're feeling a little crowded in our 10:45 am service, I want to encourage you to try the9 am.  It's the same worship with more space (for the moment).
Also a reminder to our Rezlife participants and parents, we will not be meeting Sunday night in order to accommodate everyone's Super Bowl plans.  We'll be back on normal schedule next week.
