Just as swift as summer break has come and gone, another academic year is upon us. Enjoy a small look into what MVNU is up to, on a bi-monthly basis.

Introducing:
EMILY (WEAVER '11) ROGERS
As the saying goes, "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans." Little did I know that I would be right back at Mount Vernon Nazarene University four short years after graduating from MVNU in the spring of 2011.
My name is Emily (Weaver) Rogers, and I am very excited and humbled to be the new Coordinator of Communications and Public Relations in the Marketing Department at MVNU. God has brought me back "home" for a purpose, and I'm more than willing to learn, and to give all I have back to him.

800 MARTINSBURG ROAD.
AT SOME POINT WE HAVE ALL CALLED IT HOME.
For some of us, we used an atlas to initially find our way. For others, we spoke to a smartphone and an app told us where to turn. For others, it was a familiar drive across town. But no matter how we found our way, the place that began as college became our home.
It was a place that deeply shaped our lives. It was a place filled with people that we will never forget. It was a place that changed us. It invited us to experience the person of Jesus in new and fresh ways. We discovered our identity in Christ and set out to shine His light in our communities in Ohio, around the nation, and in the world.
We all have a different address now, but from wherever you are and however you may find your way back we hope you'll come home to 800 Martinsburg Road.
Our University's journey has been exciting and we would love to have you come back to connect with one another, celebrate the memories, and create a continued partnership with one another and with the University.
Come and see all that has been happening at Mount Vernon Nazarene University! In the midst of new faces, new programs, and new buildings, the Barn still stands and what used to be farmland is still producing students committed to learning and they are grounded in the love of Christ.
Join us for Homecoming 2015 on Nov. 13 and 14 to continue to be a part of a historic journey at 800 Martinsburg Road.REGISTER TODAY!

The MVNU Board of Trustees pledged almost $110,000 toward the Center for Student Success. The trustees are a highly-accomplished and dedicated group of people who share an uncommon loyalty for and commitment to MVNU. The Board of Trustees consists of district superintendents, pastors, and laypersons from each district of the East Central region of the Church of the Nazarene. The East Central Region Nazarene Youth International President and representatives from the MVNU Alumni Association are also members of the Board. The trustees' assistance with funds has been instrumental to the progress of the Center for Student Success.
The University was also awarded a Title III Strengthening Institutions Program (SIP) grant from the U. S. Department of Education. A portion of this grant titled "Improving Baccalaureate Success and Completion" will assist MVNU in the design and implementation of its student success center initiative. As students prepare for their future, the Center for Student Success will be a central location for career advising and leadership development as well as other facets of the MVNU mission to equip students with the tools necessary for success.
MVNU is currently in a two-year campaign to raise $11 million to support STEM programs, the tennis program, the Center for Student Success, endowed scholarships, and annual sustainability efforts. Thank you for your continued investment in the lives of MVNU students and for helping MVNU reach this milestone in the campaign.

SCHNORMEIER GALLERYMVNU's Schnormeier Gallery will host the work of Georges Rouault in an exhibition entitled "Seeing Christ in the Darkness." The exhibit will be on display from Aug. 21 through Nov. 6, 2015. The opening reception will take place on Friday, Sept. 4, from 6-9 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. Deeply religious, Rouault's works resist traditional depictions of Christian themes, instead emphasizing the suffering, anguish, and hope for salvation he observed in the impoverished neighborhoods of his native Paris.

DA MAC TO PERFORM AT SONFEST 2015MVNU's SonFest adds Da Mac to its Sept. 26 lineup!
"I want to make music to reach people that were like me growing up. There are a lot of people out there who aren't being reached. There are so many people who are looked over and forgotten about because they're considered to be 'hopeless'. I want this music to give them hope." - Michael LaCoste

MVNU HOSTED TELL THE STORYMVNU extended a warm welcome to Rev. Woodie Stevens and the participants in Tell THE Story at MVNU on July 21. Tell THE Story is a discipling method that helps individuals present the Bible in a way that is simple to receive, remember, and retell. More than two-thirds of the world's population can't or won't read. Some estimate that as many as 75% of all people learn, gather information, and live their daily lives without reading. They do so by listening and watching rather than reading
