We continue this transformational “Second Chances” series as Pastor Adam preaches offers learnings into stories of redemption in the lives of prostitutes in Jesus’ life. This will be a powerful and redeeming message reminding us that none of us are out of God’s restorative reach! Invite a friend and make worship a priority.
Its been an exciting week as the crane arrived this week on our phase II building site. I have attached a pic at the conclusion of my eNote and posted it on our Facebook page as well. Resurrection West Sports Camp and Vacation Bible Camp, “Meet the Royals”! Two great opportunities for kids this summer, one amazing week of fun! Registration is now open for RezWest Sports Camp and RezWest VBC. Both camps will take place June 20-24; Sports camp (Basketball, Soccer, Flag Football & Cheerleading) will be held in the morning, followed by VBC “Meet the Royals” in the afternoon. Register for one or both of these events. A supervised “sack lunch” time will be held for those who participate in both activities. We hope to help hundreds of kids grow in faith, wisdom and friendship through these programs, so we will need many volunteers - youth and adults! All parents who volunteer for VBC and have children younger than kindergarten will be able to register their little ones in early childhood VBC or nursery. 21st Annual Resurrection Golf Classic & Auction – Monday, May 9, Country Club of Leawood.Golfers, sponsors and volunteers are needed to help raise funds for seminary student education. More information available at cor.org/golf.
MEGA MISSION – SPRING 2016! Saturday, May 7. Meet at 8:45am at Resurrection West for a brief time of breakfast snacks, coffee, instructions and prayer. Then, serve in one of our five local opportunities, including:
Packaging diapers at Happy Bottoms
Sorting used LEGOS for children in-need through The Giving Brick at the RezWest Mission Center
Sorting and organizing donations at Mission Southside or Turnstyles Thrift Store
Serving at Rose Brooks Center, which provides emergency shelter for women and children.
All ages are welcome and all are invited to wear a MEGA MISSION t-shirt - extras will be available. Due to the specific number of volunteers needed at each location, sign-ups are required. There are 185 available spots, so register early at cor.org/west/megamission.
Used LEGO Drive - If you would like to donate used LEGOs of any size for The Giving Brick MEGA MISSION project, please place those in the RezWest Mission Bins by the stairwell by Thursday, May 5.
5th - 7th Grade Summer Mission Trip, July 11-15 - Join us for a week of serving others, growing closer to Christ and having a lot of fun! We are heading to Lawrence to serve through non-profits, including homeless ministries, housing projects, food/shelter non-profits and much more. Register by June 1st to guarantee your spot. 8th-12th Grade Summer Mission Trip, June 12-18 (Current Grades 8-12) Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church, Minneapolis, Minnesota. Opportunities for youth to serve through homeless ministries, housing projects and food and shelter non-profits. Family mission trip to Omaha, Nebraska, July 21-23. This will be a great way to instill the value of service to God and others into your kid’s lives. Join Pastor Jason, Christie Walker - Director of Children’s Ministries, and their families to serve. Registration will open for this mission experience for parents and kids K-5th grade next week. Save the dates and join us in service. We will cap off the mission experience with a day at the Omaha zoo!
Registration is still available to walk where Jesus walked this November on our Holy land pilgrimage,November 14-23. If interested, please Debbie Dietz at debbie.dietz@cor.orgto join with us. We will travel along with members from our Blue Springs campus (already over 30 registered), through Bethlehem, Jerusalem, around the sea of Galilee and more!
Join Pastor Jason on a mission trip to serve in Malawi, January 12-22, 2017. Serve with our Malawian brothers and sisters as we reach out to the community through a variety of projects. This is an exciting way to step out of your comfort zone and affect the lives of so many. Included in the trip is a cultural safari experience you won’t want to miss. Finally, we are just a couple of weeks away from Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 8th. We will be celebrating our mothers and the amazing impact they have had on our lives through each worship service at every campus and we need your help. We hope you will send in your favorite pic with your mother, grandmother, and/or pics of you with your own children. They will be shown at your home campus and worship service on that day as we offer praise and thanks to God for these incredible women. Please send your pic to mothersday@cor.org and be sure to note that you are from the RezWest campus along with what service you normally attend (9am, 10:45am, or 5pm). It will be a great day of worship for sure!
