Robert (“Bob”) Donald Parker, 86, passed on April 20, 2016, in Austin, Texas.
He was born on February 22, 1930, to Albert I. Parker and Margaret Robson Parker. His mother died shortly after his birth in Providence, R.I. He was raised in Boston, Mass. by his father, Albert, and stepmother, Gertrude Parker.
He had a varied life, and touched the lives of many people as a Methodist minister, he served Walnut Hepler, Lawnridge-Neville, a chaplain major in the Army, and finally retiring, after a time being a social worker in the V.A. Hospital in White River Junction, Vt. He lived for many years in the Gaysville-Stockbridge area.
He is survived by his wife, Frances; four daughters: Denise and husband Britt Cribbit, Becky and her husband Bob Hill, Cheri Dubuque, and Melinda and her husband Ray Loney; two sons, John Parker and Michael Parker.
In honor of his memory, and for the lives he touched, please make a donation to a charity of your choice. We will have a memorial at a later time when his family can come together.
The Rev. Marion Franklin Woods, 97, died Thursday, April 21, 2016, in Ciudad Quesada, Costa Rica.
He was born Nov. 15, 1918, at Eskridge, the son of Albert Edward Woods and Helen Rachel (Pardee) Woods.
Marion graduated from Bird City High School in 1936 and Kansas Wesleyan College in Salina in 1940. He served as pastor of the Grand Avenue Methodist Church in Salina, Chaplain, US Army, Missionary in Costa Rica.
Marion F. Woods was married to Marjory Koken of Bird City on Nov.22, 1942. She preceded him in death on Jan. 17, 1963. Four children were born to this union: Paula, Karen, Stanley and Margie.
In 1950, they were commissioned to be missionaries in Costa Rica. It has become “home” to him as he has ministered to the people of Costa Rica.
Marion was married to Fannie May Richards of Abilene from May 17, 1964, to Aug.t 6, 1986, when she passed away.
On April 17, 1993, Marion was united in marriage to Mary Russell, with whom he shared his life and ministry until his passing.
Funeral service was held Tuesday, April 26, at the Methodist Center in Alajuela, Costa Rica. Interment will follow in the Cementerio de Extranjeros Costa Rica.

When you send your check, please e-mail us a notice to mymwoods@racsa.co.cr that the funds have been deposited and are ready to be drawn upon in the mission project which you care to designate. This method avoids the chance of loss of checks in the mail to Costa Rica and is the most rapid way of giving to the mission work.
Rev. Nellie “Nell” Lou Holmes, 67, of Hutchinson, Kansas died Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at Hospice and Homecare of Reno County. Nell was born July 1, 1948, in Peabody, Kansas.
She served El Dorado Trinity, Garden City, Liberal, Deerfield-Lydia, Hutchinson Tenth Ave., Quinter-Grinnell, Wellington, Hugoton, St. Francis in Kansas, retired in 2014.
Memorial Service was held Monday, May 2, 2016 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1602 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas. Baker Funeral Home, Peabody.
