Greetings Resurrection Blue Springs Family and Friends,
I'm going to make this short today as I am writing from the Great Plains Annual Conference in Lincoln, NE where over 1,500 clergy and lay representatives are attending to the work of our conference. Bishop Scott Jones used the image of a crazy quilt of a variety of fabrics stitched together to celebrate the diversity of the United Methodist Church at the opening worship on Wednesday afternoon. "When the diversity of God's creation is knit together ... something beautiful is created." As Jones commented in one session, this annual conference session is part revival, part family reunion, part tent meeting, part ordination and credentialing and a place where we can make connections. It's been exciting to hear of the great work happening throughout our conference, both locally and globally and to know that we've been a part of this good work. I am so grateful to be a part of a church and a larger diverse community working together to change the world.
I'm looking forward to this coming weekend in worship, as we continue in our sermon series on W*RK. This Sunday Austin Holt, entrepenuer and leader of our 2.0 College/Young Adult ministry, will be offering our message. He'll be sharing how we can bring principles from the entrepenurial world into our faith and work with a sermon entitled "Spiritual Mind-share". I encourage you to invite a friend to join us at 9 or 10:45 am on Sunday morning.
I want to remind you that Monday, June 16th begins "Bless the School." This is the week that we devote our work to one of our KC partner schools to help create a better learning environment for students and staff. This year we will be painting, building, cleaning and organizing at Wheatley Elementary, which serves more than 400 inner-city students. Painting and work shifts are Monday, June 16 – Saturday, June 21, 9 am – noon, 1-4 pm, and 5:30-8:30 pm (no evening shifts on Friday or Saturday). We'd love to have you join our crew from Blue Springs on Saturday morning, June 19th for montyly FaithWork. You can find more information below.

Summer Hospitality Team. Summer is upon us and we have a lot of folks in and out on vacation so we're finding we have some holes in our hospitality line up. If you'd be willing to volunteer as an usher, greeter, coffee host or communion server this summer or if you would be willing to place your name on a substitute list we would be so grateful. We'll provide whatever training you need. We want to be able to provide great hospitality all summer long as we've got a great line up for worship. Contact Jennifer Palmer if you'd be willing to serve.
